About Norwegian Afghanistan Committee

The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) is a member-based solidarity organization that has been working in support and solidarity with the Afghan people for more than 35 years. The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) has a zero tolerance of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH) both within the organization and of beneficiaries. Prevention of and protection from sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH) is the individual and collective responsibility of all NAC officers, management, staff, consultants, and volunteers, who are all required to familiarize themselves with, agree to, and act in accordance with NAC’s Ethical Guidelines and Commitment, NAC Child Protection Policy, and NAC PSEAH Policy, at all times – both during and outside working hours – and participate actively in introductory and refresher trainings. Any breaches of PSEAH clauses in NAC’s policies, guidelines, and/or commitments will lead to immediate termination and possible legal actions.

Job Description

Specific Responsibility:

  • Provide technical support to ANDMA and communities on issues related to DRR and public awareness in close coordination with the ANDMA and NAC
  • Actively participate in discussion and mobilization with governmental departments and local communities to ensure proper implementation of NAC projects activities related to DRR and NRM
  • Timely collection of information and data for natural disaster events from communities and districts level, and incorporate into ANDMA data base.
  • Participating in any natural disaster related assessments and develop reports with details and share the report with ANDMA and NAC.
  • Data collection from DRR-working group members on issues related to DRR
  • Playing an active role in PDMC meeting and DRR working group meetings.
  • Collaborate with the NAC-M&E and NRM/DRR unit for the collection data from the field and reporting while required.
  • Assist with organizing workshops, conferences, and meetings as specified in the NAC annual work plan.
  • Assist the ANDMA on preparing plans and track the implementation of plans
  • Sharing of the priority plan with other DRR implementers at provincial level
  •  
  • Support the team in developing of villages disaster management plan (VDMP).
  • Support the senior DRR trainer and M&E unit for the documentation of the result of the DRR project.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reports and submit to ANADA
  • Review and provide inputs on the DRR/NRM related infrastructure projects considering the do no harm principals, effectiveness, and sustainability.

General Responsibilities:

  • S/He is expected to actively take part in different capacity building program.

Job Requirements

Language requirements, if any:

  •  Excellent reading, writing and speaking skills in local languages   
  • Good English language skills (reading, writing, and speaking)

Qualifications Required/Education

  • Bechore in Civil engineering/Geology and Mine/Environment and Natural Resource Management. Applicants with master’s degree in the relevant fields is preferred.
  • Good understanding of the sphere standards and emergency base service delivery.
  • Familiar in using Engineering software (AutoCAD, GIS and …).
  • Familiar in using with GIS mapping software (Google earth, QGIS or ArcGis)

Work Experience:

  • At least 1year job related experience (Disaster risk reduction programs, surveys and assessments, data collection and reporting)

Skills:

  • Effective Report writing skills and experiences.
  • Effective use of office package (MS. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Having good communication and teamwork skills to work with government, NGOs and UN agencies and grassroots level groups
  • Self-motivated and punctual.
