Job Description

Purpose:

The Youth Officer assists in the design, planning and management of IMC humanitarian response by analyzing adolescents and youth relevant political, social and economic trends and providing inputs to adolescents and youth project formulation and evaluation, and joint programming initiatives. Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator leads the process of Humanitarian Youth program/project development and implementation by using and developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with established procedures, as well as by monitoring results achieved during implementation

 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret the political, social and economic environment relevant to

adolescents and Youth, adolescents and harmful practices including Child Marriage and Youth and peace security in Afghanistan and identifies opportunities for IMC and UNFPA assistance and interventions.

  • Assess the programmers’ needs for strategic interventions and participate in the

The fund-raising process by assessing the adolescents’ and youth needs. Provide ideas

  • Ensure integration and linkages of the youth programmed within regular and

humanitarian programs and work with the project coordinator on documentation of youth initiatives and success stories.

 

  • Foster links between the Youth program, Sexual and Reproductive Health,

Gender-Based Violence, and Humanitarian programs

  • Support Youth Innovations and leadership in humanitarian response, reducing

inequality, promoting health, peace and security, and support enabling platforms for active youth participation.

         

  • Assess the training needs of the youths and counterparts and support the

facilitation of capacity-building training, workshops, and other activities

 

  • Evaluate Youth projects and program activities, establishing and implementing

mechanisms to systematically assess the achievement of results, conducting field

visits, participate in review meetings and evaluation missions and prepare regular inputs to status and progress reports. Analyzes factors affecting the achievement of results, recommend corrective actions, and follows up on recommendations

  • To regularly supervise the youth volunteer, staff in targeted provinces
  • Prepare work plans and implementation reports.

Safeguarding policy for Staff:

 

  • Respect and follow International Medical Corps Safeguarding policy and never neglect, abuse, harm, and exploit children, young people, and adults at risk,
  • Report any actual or suspicious harm to the children and vulnerable adults caused by staff and the program.

 

 

Job Requirements

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Advanced university degree in social since or other relevant faculty
  • Prior experience in the field of youth programming.
  • Minimum two years of relevant, demonstrated professional experience in the

design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects in the areas of youth work, youth development, or population and reproductive health

  • Experience in training facilitation, monitoring, and overall coordination of the

component.

  • Fluency in English, Dari, and Pashto is required.
  • Good knowledge of computers program (Ms. Word, Excel, PowerPoint…)

 

The responsibilities of the position holder are not limited to the duties mentioned but any other task assigned by the supervisor.
