Job Description

Job Purpose

Reporting to life skill master trainer/curriculum developer the women support assistant will be responsible for the implementation of all planned activities regular travel to project sites to provide technical support, supervise, review and document progress, and challenges in the field.

The Women’s Support assistants will manage regular sessions in the safe spaces in the target locations within the targeted location in the provinces’ IMC Protection sites. The Women’s Support assistants will be a focal point of the program and will welcome women and girls to participate in a variety of psychosocial support activities. The Women’s Support assistant will also provide regular guidance and support to women’s activities.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • She will oversee WGSSs group awareness sessions and activities relating to WGSSs and awareness
  • Organize and monitor daily activities at the WGSS
  • Organize group psychosocial support activities
  • Refer clients to PSS counsellors, as relevant
  • Support and train outreach workers where relevant
  • Maintain records on activities and produce reports
  • Contribute to a positive IMC team environment
  • Supervise the general WGSS activities implementation and ensure procurement of supplies is being done in a timely manner
  • Facilitate educative empowerment sessions for women and girls
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps
  • Conduct outreach sessions to encourage women to participate in safe space activities and survivors to come forward.
  • Undertake any other responsibilities.

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct, maintain humanitarian principles and respect international humanitarian law.

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

Compliance & Ethics:

  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity

Safeguarding

  • It is all staff’s shared responsibility and obligation to safeguard and protect populations with whom we work, including adults who may be particularly vulnerable and children. This includes safeguarding from the following conduct by our staff or partners: sexual exploitation and abuse; exploitation, neglect, or abuse of children and adults at risk; and any form of trafficking in persons. 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Graduated from high school. Or bachelor’s degree in social work or other relevant social study added value. (But not required) Essential:
  • Higher education is not required. Work experience with women and girls is added value desirable

Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in the Protection field in similar roles in governmental or non-governmental organizations 
  • At least one years’ experience in delivering is desirable 

Competency

  • Experience working with women and girls
  • Have facilitated group activities previously
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint Excel and internet is required. ( not required)
  • Communication skills and strong local language correspondence skills. Particularly in fluency in English, Dari and Pashtu speaking /writing skills are required. 
  • Ability to write logical, clear and concise reports. 

Demonstrated ability to think strategically, effectively plan, and set priorities.

Familiarity with community traditional norms ability to speak clearly and good communication skills with women and girls in the community demonstrate the project activities
