About Organization of Human Welfare (OHW):

The Organization of Human Welfare (OHW) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) and is non-political, not-for-profit, and impartial organization with no bias towards a particular religion, ethnicity, or political belief. It has its own independent legal status and entity. OHW is registered with the Ministry of Economy in Kabul, Afghanistan (Registration No: 1014) and is a member of South West Afghanistan and Baluchistan Agency for Coordination (SWABAC), the coordinating body for NGOs in southern Afghanistan. The Managing Director of OHW also formally represents SWABAC in coordination meetings at the national level.

Job Description

  • Identify program beneficiary farmers and traders to participate in the value chain marketing program and assist beneficiaries in technical capacity building.  
  • Provide training and technical assistance to the farmers and traders. 
  • Ensure to implement various marketing components of the value chain Project, including conducting market surveys, designing training curriculum and other similar activities.  
  • Collect information from farmers, traders and food processors and report weekly, as required. 
  • Assist farmers and traders in adding value to their products for sale to domestic and international markets.  
  • Experience in training farmers in quality improvement of high-quality crops that satisfy international export standards. 
  • Assist farmers and traders in understanding and completing various export-related documents. 
  • Provide accurate documentation of all sales transactions to domestic and international markets from project beneficiaries. 
  • Travel to OHW targeted areas and participate in any coordination meetings with private sector organizations. 
  • To the extent feasible, coordinate activities with DAIL staff members in the districts.  
  • Coordinate program activities with local Shuras and district councils.
  • Draft marketing reports according to the activities in the provinces/districts and submit to the Project Manager. 
  • Design and adapt the guideline for establishing new or mobilizing existing Self Help Groups (SHGs).
  • In collaboration with project partners adapt the agricultural value Chain training manuals and guidelines.
  • Will ensure quality implementation of enhanced agricultural production post-harvest handling storage and processing improved food safety and security improved market linkages business development new product marketing and branding.
  • Build the capacity of value chain actors through training mentorship and coaching in basic business management and life skills.
  • Program management related to distribution of input provision backward linkages and forward market linkage activities to ensure sales through Self Help Groups (SHGs).
  • Provide training and coaching to self-help groups and other involved groups on processing marketing packaging and selling approaches.
  • S/He will develop value chain strategies with targeted SHGs and establish linkage or coordination with other community producer groups cooperatives associations companies businesses and other intermediaries.
  • Facilitate project team members to organize exposure visits trade missions value chain working group platforms and broader stakeholder forums to enhance market linkage.
  • Promote exchanges of knowledge and lessons learned in connection with activities under the project and more generally with the development of efficient and inclusive value chains
  • Submit accurate compiled reports monthly quarterly work plans and sharing with the final draft with Business and Value Chain Development Specialist.
  • Liaise with logistic and finance team and other program team in case of required
  • Participating in stakeholders meeting at national and provincial level if required
  • Ensure government participation in key social events such as trainings exposure visits workshops etc. as appropriate.
  • Participate in relevant national provincial and district level meetings and represent business and value chain development interventions
  • Network with other international and local NGOs for experience sharing and learning on business and value chain activities.
    CHS & Emergency:
  • Any other assigned tasks by the supervisor.  

Job Requirements

  • Four (4) years of work experience as a Marketing Officer or similar role. 
  • Good knowledge of marketing techniques and principles. 
  • Some level of familiarity with an international donor organization,
  • Proficiency in MS Office.    
  • Good Understanding of market, Statistical and data analysis method. 
  • Good reporting skills. 
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills in English, Dari and Pashtu.  
  • Excellent organizational skills in the field and office. 
  • A team player with customer-oriented experience. 
  • Candidate from Daikondi Province preferred.
