Job Description

Job Purpose

The Vaccinator will work predominantly delivering EPI services to women of childbearing age and children as per national EPI policy. She/he assumes responsibility and accountability for her/his practices, applying up to date knowledge and skills in caring for every client and family.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administers vaccines correctly in accordance with guidelines, and maintains strict aseptic techniques Maintains accurate records/charts of monitoring coverage of the patients in the center Provides counseling to the care givers on the preventative and curative health aspects of the vaccines, vaccination schedules, when to return for the other shot of vaccine etc.
  • Receives vaccines and ensures that the cold chain is correctly maintained to the point of actual immunization in accordance to standardized guidelines Prepares monthly statistical report, vaccine consumption/wastage rates and submits in timely manner
  • Ensures that used syringes, needles and all vaccinations vials/ampoules are stored and disposed of per protocols.
  • Explaining the procedure to the clients and ensuring that the client is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the administration
  • Applying a dressing to the puncture made by the needle Dispose of contaminated sharps, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures
  • Able to follow instructions and procedures accurately attention to detail Respect for confidential and sensitive information Expect to work with a client’s varying in age and health status; be friendly, courteous and sympathetic when it comes to working with clients

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

Compliance & Ethics:

  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity

Job Requirements

 * Must Graduated from Recognized  High School 

  *   At-least 1 year of relevant, progressive experience as a Vaccinator in development sector/context, NGO programs, and project experience.
