About Marie Stopes International Afghanistan

Marie Stopes International Afghanistan (MSIA) was established after registration with government of Afghanistan in August 2002. MSIA follows the mission statement of MSI, which is Improve Afghan women’s health and wellbeing so that they can in turn build strong and healthy families.. Our focus is to contribute in reducing maternal mortality ratio, providing quality and sustainable MCH/RH and family planning services and information across all provinces of Afghanistan in coordination with Ministry of Public Health, Afghanistan.

MSIA is currently operating in 14 provinces of Afghanistan namely, Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Jawzjan Faryab, Nengarhar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Takhar, Samangan, Helmand, kandahar and Kapisa.

MSIA delivers MCH/RH and family planning services through various channels such that centres, outreaches, social marketing and MS Ladies. Job Description

  • To provide a wide range of expedient support services for World Vision International/Afghanistan in transportation and maintenance of vehicles and generators. 
  • To ensure that World Vision International/Afghanistan\'s fleet of vehicles and equipment are mechanically maintained in a manner that will provide reliable transportation for World Vision goods, assets, and staff.
  • To assist maintain inventory of spare parts and assist in the procurement of replacements in a timely manner. To assist provide reports on fleet and maintenance of vehicles and ensure all errands are carried out in a timely manner.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • He should be able to improvise existing transportation solutions already in force.
  • He should keep up to date and proper inventory of all vehicles and perform daily checks on the same.
  • He should perform checks of all vehicles to ensure that they are in working condition.
  • He should keep logs regarding the total distance which is travelled by the vehicles.
  • He might be required to work in accordance with the implementation team and be responsible to implement and deliver the transport solutions.
  • He would be responsible for safe parking of the vehicles.
  • He may need to oversee whether all documentations of vehicles and drivers are up to date
  • A transportation assistant is assigned the role of undertaking and supervising various aspects to ensure that the materials reach on time and as per the invoice details like quality and quantity.
  • A transportation assistant should track various vehicles and ensure shipping has taken place within schedule, and payment is done appropriately.
  • Ensuring that all the staff in the transportation department has job satisfaction and they are compensated well while also penalising them on stolen or lost materials is included in the responsibilities of a transportation assistant.
  • A transportation assistant makes a priority list of the different tasks that are to be assigned to different professionals so that the project can be carried out without any hurdles and in the least possible time with the allocated budget.
  • He should also submit periodic reports to transportation line supervisor to intimate them on the progress of the functionality of vehicles.
  • Coordinate transport bookings produce daily schedules for the drivers’ allocating tasks and receiving emails of transport bookings and sending confirmations.
  • Issuing of permit for office drivers going on duty with office personnel.
  • Identifying needs for drivers and vehicles.
  • Keeping record of vehicles maintenance and parts procured.
  • Assisting in internal and external investigation procedures in the event of a vehicle accident etc.
  • Take all drivers phone queries and logging all calls.
  • Making sure that the documents from HO transfer safely to other provinces and vice versa.
  • Keeping the record of the documents which are transferred from one province to another.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of fuel for vehicles and clear all the payments to the supplier promptly.
  • Regular follow-up of MSIA documents, medical and non-medical shipment from head office to provinces and from provinces to head office.
  • The transport assistant must collect all shipment bills and related documents from suppliers and MSIA departments at the end of each month and clear them with the finance department.
  • Performing any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in the relevant field.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of vehicle arrangement.
  • Having good driving skills.
  • Knowledge of safety measures
  • Collaboration skills: the ability to motivate teams to exceed expectations (this is not a management role but strong effective communication ethic working with other teams in the organization is critical).
  • Strong analytical skills – proficiency in data analysis, the ability to interpret data accurately, and generate reports based on evidence for effective decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence and communicate with clients and clinic staff.
  • MS. Office skills.
  • Fluent in English & local languages both written and spoken – with the ability to draft good quality reports.
  • Excellent communication skills – with the ability to prepare and give effective presentations.
  • Ability to work on own initiative whilst working to tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to travel to other provinces to check and maintain the vehicles over there.
