Job Description

We seek exceptional candidate for Training Coordinator role who’s primary focus will be to coordinate, plan and support implementation of the training activities and other tasks assigned to him/her by the project manager based on the projects’ scope of work. The assignments of project coordinators will vary over time, in line with changes and demands of the projects/programs.

Role + Responsibilities

This role will mainly support the program management team including the project/program managers, program director and the rest of the team on day-to-day business of the project. Being responsible for one or several components of a project at a time, the coordinator plays a key role, and works closely with the project management team.

The Training Coordinator’s key duties will be to:

  • Help the management team with the planning and implementation of the journalists’ capacity building program under the Lapis portfolio
  • Coordinate with the Project manager and training consultants to prepare comprehensive implementation plan for the training activities 
  • Coordinate with the training consultants and project manager to organize the training activities based on the approved comprehensive implementation plan.
  • Coordinate with the Admin and Finance officer and project manager to ensure appropriate trainings venues are booked and all training related logistical issues are efficiently and effectively taken care of. In coordination with the project manager and Admin and Finance officer, facilitate travel and accommodation arrangements of the training participants.
  • Work closely with the training consultant to prepare training evaluation and feedback forms.
  • Distribute and collect training evaluation and feedback forms at the end of each training course.
  • Analyse the evaluation and feedback forms and forward your recommendations to the training consultants to consider possible adjustments in the future trainings.
  • Ensure that post-training reports are produced, shared with project manager and program manager.
  • Develop robust, well-designed reports and briefing notes with the highest quality 
  • Take part in all aspects of program delivery with a focus on the integration of core Lapis verticals; research, strategy and planning, creative, production, media and M&E
  • Help with the tasks related to budgeting, cash flows and compliance
  • Ensure relevant quality assurance processes are completed so that programs are running effectively and on time
  • Help with monitoring of risks and issues developments within the portfolio sub-set

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in journalism, economics, business or related fields. Master’s degree will be preferred. 
  • 4-5 years of relevant experience
  • Commitment to and passion for positive change
  • Extensive experience in project coordination
  • Presentation abilities and excellent written/oral communications
  • Understanding of the social and media landscape
  • Ability to engage with clients and establish, deepen, and grow relationships with colleagues from different organisations, functions, and cultures
  • Ability to identify and implement effective processes for achieving outcomes
  • A high degree of flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing needs and effectively address issue
  • Attention for detail and ability to effectively manage a high volume of data and information
