We are helping children get a better education, we make it possible for more boys and girls to attend school, we help children protect themselves and influence their own conditions. We work with families, communities and health workers in homes, clinics and hospitals to promote basic health in order to save lives of children and mothers

Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE:

To provide professional maintenance support, including plumbing, electrical work, and support to the Country Offices and Staff houses.  The job holder will also from time to time, be delegated other support duties and activities.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Senior Admin Officer  

Staff reporting to this post: N/A

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Technician

  • Oversee general maintenance of Kabul office/s and guest house buildings
  • Coordinate with government electricity offices and power stations on electricity maintenance issues
  • Repairing of electricity and water systems of Kabul office/s and guest houses
  • Assist in repairs, maintenance and installation of office equipment, as appropriate
  • Supervising the work of external service providers for all construction, plumbing, carpentry, electrical or any other works that cannot be completed directly
  • Ensure work areas are hazard-free and clean
  • Ensure that all facilities and equipment are in good condition and issues of repairs and maintenance are addressed in a timely manner
  • Regular assessments of all facilities to check for required repairs or maintenance. Pro-active preventative maintenance planning
  • Suggest improvements to the effectiveness and efficiency of facilities and equipment
  • Ensure that offices and Guest Houses heating and cooling systems are working properly
  • Flexibility to make repairs as and when required, including at weekends or evenings if required
  • To ensure that offices and Guest Houses plumbing and electricity system is working properly
  • Weakly and regularly inspection of office and GHs electronic items as per check list
  • Perform other duties when required
  • Any other duties assigned by the line manager

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS 

12 Grade Certificate

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 3 years of working experience in Technician
  • Ability to work in a team and individual.
  • Prioritizing and scheduling workload to ensure completion when faced with deadlines.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course work including a government official, regional offices, and other staff.
  • Following the written and oral instruction with minimum supervision.
  • Exercising independent judgment, wisdom, common sense, and initiative.
  • Thoroughly carrying out Save the Children International’s policy and practices.

Desirable

  • Principles and practices of the Public Administration and organization applicable to a local agency.
