About Aga Khan Health Service-Afghanistan

Aga Khan Health Service, Afghanistan (AKHS,A), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is a long-term partner of the ‘Ministry of Public Health, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’ for the implementation of “Basic Package of Health Services” in three provinces (Baghlan, Bamyan and Badakhshan), and implementation of Essential Package of  Hospital Service (EPHS) in Badakhshan and Bamyan province. AKHS-A is implementing three Community Midwifery Education Program Schools each in Bamyan, Badakhshan and Baghlan

Job Description

  • Perform US for all OPD, IPD and MCH patient who refer by doctors
  • Triage patient who are waiting for US and give priority for patient who need early US services
  • Explain the procedure indication, contraindication and complication for patient before performing US
  • Ensure from patient consent before performing procedure
  • Ensure from availability of all equipment and supply before performing US procedure
  • Ensure from safe and free infection area before performing US procedure (he/she should wear PPE, disinfect his/her hands and probe and US table disinfection between each tow US procedure)
  • Ensure from on time cleaning of US room infrastructure and equipment and proper follow up of waste management system
  • Record all given data by patient in tally sheet, register and HMIS module
  • Write and print US report in patient file for IPD and in reporting format for OPD and MCH patient
  • Safe all patient data in hard and soft copy and send them after completion to HMIS department and consider confidentiality in releasing data
  • Archive patient report and US pictures in soft folders and sharing them with related doctors and department according to their need and request
  • Perform portable US for patient who is in critical condition and can’t carry to US room for performing procedure in ER, OT, recovery and ward
  • Come to hospital as a second call to performing US for patient who need US during night shift
  • Checking daily US machine and its related equipment and ensure from their functionality
  • On time reporting to biomedical engineer and IT if there is any fault in US system and equipment
  • Ensure from routine maintenance of US equipment by biomedical engineer
  • Ensure form routine maintenance of US infrastructure including room, water supply, electricity, cooling and heating system by mechanical engineer
  • Develop and submission of daily US report thorough morning report and monthly report to clinical manager
  • Provide online training for BPHS doctor through eLearning session and UBRS PH resident in US principle to help patient by them in his/her absence during leave or early at the night shift
  • Monthly analyzing the data, comparing with target and past performance and present reason for variance in HMIS committee
  • Performing research for interesting and clinically important cases to find their cause and propose preventive measures
  • Determine unnecessary US investigation and give feedback to related doctor
  • Supervise and monitor other radiology and instrumental investigation like X-ray, endoscopy and ECG and provide necessary support for the mentioned section
  • Develops policy, procedure, and guideline for US services to improve quality of US services
  • Attend in mass casualty management according to his/her given responsibility in emergency response situation
  • Any other responsibility given by related supervisor
 

Job Requirements

  • Good communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Educational: Medical Doctor with US certificate from a certified MoPH course
  • Working experience of 2 years in relevant section
  • Good computer skill MS office
  • Good spoken and written English language skills
  • Able to work independently and can take initiative
  • Flexible team player
