Job Description

Job Purpose

The incumbent for this position is responsible to do screening and identification of deported unaccompanied minors/separated children at the zero point in Islam Qala Border in cooperation with border staffs of DORR and IOM through approaching the buses carrying the deportees from Iran, welcome the deportees, explain the post-arrival services available to particularly the UAMs and identify unaccompanied minors and separated children with psychosocial problems and report it to Lead Screener for sharing the cases to the psychosocial officers in GTC for debriefing and counselling.

Your are responsbile to: 

  • The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:
  • Screening and identification of deported unaccompanied minors/separated children at the zero point in Islam Qala Border in cooperation with border staffs of DORR and IOM through approaching the buses carrying the deportees from Iran, welcome the deportees, explain the post-arrival services available to particularly the UAMs
  • Identify girls unaccompanied minors and Accompanying them from IQ border to GTC
  • To cooperate child friendly space facilitators for providing psychosocial support for children.
  • Accompanying and guiding the screened UAMs toward DoRR office for confirmation and receiving Referral forms.
  • Accompanying and guiding the UAMs toward IOM Office for registration and receiving Beneficiary ID Card for accessing to the post-arrival services (Refreshments/Lunch, Medical Assistance and Transportation to GTC in Herat)
  • Identify unaccompanied minors and separated children with psychosocial problems and report it to Lead Screener for sharing the cases to the psychosocial officers in GTC for debriefing and counseling.
  • To coordinate closely with the War Child UK Monitoring and Evaluation Department on M and E requirements of the project.
  • Close Coordination and effective communications with the staff of DoRR, IOM, AIHRC, UNHCR-CHA, Border Police and other key involved actors in regards of the UAMs.
  • Strictly adheres to all War Child policies and procedures, including Child Protection policy.
  • Prepares and submits daily, weekly and monthly Activity Reports to the Lead Screener
  • To do other tasks and duties while asked by the Lead Screener and or project Manager. 
  • Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant to War Child’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be creative problem solver and foster a solution-based approach to management.

Experience and mandatory criteria:

  • At least 2 Years’ experience.
  • Bachelor degree in social science
  • Proficiency Pashto and Persian languages is highly essential, [i.e., reading, writing and speaking]
  • Patient and with good understanding of humanitarian and development work.
  • Hardworking and able to work with people from different backgrounds.
  • Honest and accountable.
  • Commitment and to understand of War Child UK values.
