Job Description:

The Senior Finance Officer at DWSSO will play a critical role in managing the financial health of the organization. The position is responsible for overseeing the Finance Unit, ensuring efficient financial management, compliance with standards, and support of project financial requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing finances for projects and NGOs.

Job Requirements

The individual would be responsible for the following activities:

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, and cash flow management.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring the organization's annual budget, financial plans, and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, donor requirements, and internal financial policies and procedures.
  • Manage and monitor project budgets, ensuring efficient allocation and utilization of funds.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports for internal management and external stakeholders such as donors and regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring all financial records are in order.
  • Train and mentor finance unit staff and other team members on financial management best practices.
  • Communicate with donors regarding financial matters, ensuring transparency and adherence to reporting requirements.
  • Develop and improve financial systems and processes to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect the organization's assets and reputation.
