Job Description

  Work together with the Porters to keep out any unauthorized persons and to challenge any stranger found on site and especially inside the buildings.

·   Be prepared to call in and work with the Police in the event of the discovery of unauthorized visitors to the facility.

·   Assist the Emergency Team in emergency situations in cooperation with porters, fire/police agencies, and/or senior management.

·    Ensure the health and safety of staff and visitors wherever possible.

·   Patrol and inspect the interior and exterior of the facility on foot. Respond promptly and safely to calls for assistance and emergency “code” calls throughout the School.

·   In tandem with the Security and gatekeeper team, manage visitor access/control including issuing both permanent and temporary security badges.

·   Patrol campus grounds to identify security risks, and ensure buildings, unoccupied rooms, external doors, car parks, and security systems are safe and secured.

·     Provide advice to staff and clients on security and safety issues.

·  Attend all responses to alarms, medical emergencies, fires, and other similar matters, evacuating premises and contacting appropriate emergency services if required.

·    Provide protection to self and others including administration of First Aid as required.

·   Assist the designated Safety Officer in evaluating and implementing university policies and procedures in the conduct of safety and security inspections.

·    Undertake escort duties for staff and visitors

·   Liaise with external organizations including emergency services regarding security and safety issues.

·    Operate and maintain a range of security equipment including two-way radios

·    May coordinate with all national and sub-national level Intra and inter-organizational bodies.

·    Act as the security officer for the clients in the area assigned; support security guard supervisor in solving problems.

. Conduct field trips to support sub-offices or staff in the fields at short notice whenever requested.

. Assist the Security officers and guards with daily security briefings, workshops, and meetings.

. Check daily security emails, and type, edit, and translate security-related letters and documents.

. Maintain hard copies of documents and the filling system.

. Act as the direct focal point for security guards, gatekeepers, and supervisors in the area assigned; support security guard supervisor in solving problems, report daily to supervisor;

. Maintain the Security Plan up-to-date, including updating lists of guards, and eligible family members.

. Ensure that the appropriate level of confidentiality is maintained with regard to security matters.

·    Any other task is given by the supervisor
