Job Description

The major focus is to assist in enabling the secure delivery of programs and to help the project officer identify deficiencies and risks.    

Under the direction of provide assistance to the Safety and Security Officer and complete the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of IRC standard safety and security systems (communications, reporting…).
  • Support SSO in collecting and disseminating relevant security information.
  • Ensure that Staff Movement SOP’s and other procedures are properly implanted.
  • Assist the SSO in developing/updating safety and security documents.
  • Ensure understanding of roles, responsibilities, lateral relationships, and accountabilities.
  • Closely monitor convoys and route from one location to another.
  • Support the SSO and IRC management to ensure that the security situation is closely monitored in IRC program areas.
  • Assist SSO in editing Provincial Security Management Plan.
  • Ensure all assigned communications equipment and systems are fully functioning.
  • Report all irregularities or incidents in any way related to the security of IRC staff or asset to SSO.
  • Provide regular security situation report to SSO and the Field Coordinator.
  • Assist in regular security briefings for staff and visitors.
  • Attend and participate in trainings identified/organized by the supervisor.
  • Establish and maintain relations with relevant external bodies (aid community, government, and security agencies).
  • Actively participate in security related meetings and share meeting minutes with SSO and others responsible if needed.
  • Follow and enforce all IRC codes of conduct and policies (worldwide and in-country).
  • Perform other duties rendered by supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science.
  • 2 years of work experience in the relevant field.
  • Ability to properly community in English and national languages both verbally and non-verbally  .
  • Competent user of IT (Ms. Office Package).
  • Familiarity with use of communication means (radio, UHF….).
  • Be able to work under tough security circumstances.
