About (WASSA):

The Women’s Activities and Social Services Association (WASSA) was established in 2002 as Afghanistan's first women’s independent organization. WASSA aims to promote the women’s equal participation in socio-economic sectors and support the current humanitarian crisis by providing emergency humanitarian and livelihood assistance to vulnerable households, especially women.

To support WASSA’s vision and mission, some potential candidates are needed to be recruited for a project funded by UN Women to strengthen women’s livelihoods through increased access to skills and resources. The project will be implemented in three districts of Herat Province for a period of 15 months.

Job Description

Position Overview:

The Reporting and Monitoring Officer will play a crucial role in the implementation of the SME Development Project in Herat, Farah, Ghor, and Badghis provinces. The project aims to support the growth and development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in these regions through training, capacity-building initiatives, and access to necessary resources. The Reporting and Monitoring Officer will be responsible for ensuring effective reporting, monitoring, and evaluation of project activities, as well as supporting the overall project implementation. The role requires strong analytical and reporting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive reporting and monitoring framework for the SME Development Project.
  2. Collect, analyze, and interpret data on project activities, outputs, outcomes, and impact.
  3. Prepare regular progress reports, including narrative reports, statistical analysis, and data visualization, to communicate project achievements and challenges to stakeholders.
  4. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors, partners, and other relevant stakeholders.
  5. Coordinate with project staff and partners to collect and consolidate data for reporting purposes.
  6. Conduct field visits to project sites to monitor project activities, assess progress, and identify challenges or opportunities for improvement.
  7. Support the beneficiary selection process, including location mapping, skills assessment, and public awareness campaigns.
  8. Assist in the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and methodologies.
  9. Collaborate with project staff and partners to ensure data quality and accuracy.
  10. Support the development and implementation of project monitoring and evaluation plans.
  11. Assist in conducting surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions to gather feedback and assess project impact.
  12. Identify and document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  13. Participate in project meetings, workshops, and trainings as required.
  14. Stay updated on the project's activities, targets, and indicators to ensure accurate reporting and monitoring.
  15. Collaborate with the Project Supervisor and other team members to address challenges and identify opportunities for project enhancement.
  16. Support the development and maintenance of project databases and information management systems.
  17. Assist in organizing and facilitating project evaluation and learning events.
  18. Ensure compliance with project reporting requirements and deadlines.
  19. Provide technical support and guidance to project staff and partners on monitoring and reporting activities.
  20. Contribute to the overall project planning, implementation, and coordination as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Development Studies, or Business Administration. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of development projects, preferably in the field of SME development or economic development.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and present data effectively.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools, and methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and data visualization.
  • Attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy and quality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and diverse environment.
  • Fluency in English and local languages is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel to project locations as needed.
