Job Description

Job Purpose: He/ she will provide psychosocial support, basic GBV case management support to vulnerable women and girls through individual counselling follow up support, referrals, and dissemination of information on available services to encourage access to services.She will in collaboration with the PSCC in charge/ Training Officer oversee provision of psychosocial /group support, skills building with local partner, information sessions and other recreational activities

Main Duties & Responsibilities: 

Under the overall supervision of PSCCs in-charge the PSS counselor will be responsible to;

  • Provide Psychosocial case management services, including referral to any other available services (health, specialized, mental health, psychosocial support, etc.) following the guidelines.
  • Regular follow-up of individual clients registered in the PSCC.
  • Provide individual and group psychosocial support to women and girls at PSCC to help them cope with the trauma reactions.
  • Provide psychological first aid (PFA) and assess the needs of clients through one-to-one sessions.
  • Responsible for maintaining and confidentiality of all registered documents.
  • Compile and share weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting with the PSCC in charge and others based on requirement. 
  • Ensure that all work with clients is kept confidential and that ethical practices are always followed.
  • Follow the organization and donor approved policies /protocols and will apply the guiding principle during service provision.
  • Established a good working relation network with hospital management team and mental health departments of the hospital for referral.
  • Create a supportive environment for standard case management and provision of quality PSS service.
  • Use the donor approved IEC tools during service provision.
  • Based on the request of the authorized person, attend, and participate in all relevant meetings/training-related meetings for the program's purpose.

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

Compliance & Ethics:

  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.

Safeguarding

  • It is all staff’s shared responsibility and obligation to safeguard and protect populations with whom we work, including adults who may be particularly vulnerable and children. This includes safeguarding from the following conduct by our staff or partners: sexual exploitation and abuse; exploitation, neglect, or abuse of children and adults at risk; and any form of trafficking in persons. 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:Diploma or bachelor’s degree in psychology, psychosocial counseling or can consider a midwife with two years extensive experience in PSS field for remote location and where the IPs could not onboard the candidate with bachelor degree  . A bachelor’s in psychology will be given preference.

Experience: 

  • At least 2-3 years of field experience within a Humanitarian NGO/Agency in the same or similar position
  • Extensive experience providing individuals and groups psychosocial support. 

Competency 

  • Strength in interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Skilled at working as a team member.
  • Able to speak/write in Pashto and Dari with clarity and ease.
  • Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrate strong local language correspondence skills. Particularly in fluency in
  • To be able to propose solutions to the identified problems/challenges.
  • Attitudes and aptitude aligned with the positions are essential.
