SCA Background

The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development Programs concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is slightly over 7,386.During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming, and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities, and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development. Job Description

Scope of Work

SCA's ABADEI Project aims to improve rural livelihoods and resilience of target groups, including men, women, boys, girls, youth, and persons with disabilities. The programme covers emergency assistance, livelihoods, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), disaster risk reduction (DRR) and local governance.

Under direct supervision of the Cluster Manager / Team Leader, the Project Trainer will be responsible for supporting the implementation of Community Based Disaster Risk Management and community governance activities. The position holder will work closely with field officers, facilitators and target groups to design and deliver capacity development and awareness raising activities. S/he reports to the Cluster Manager/Team Leader. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Program Officer and Cluster Manager/Team Leader in conducting technical assessments and designing Community Based Disaster Risk Management and governance interventions.
  • Conduct training needs assessment for staff, target groups and communities.
  • Take the lead in designing training modules in coordination with the deputy project manager and technical specialist.
  • Develop terms of references for developing training modules and conducting trainings.
  • Develop and deliver capacity building trainings in the areas of Community Based Disaster Risk Management and governance, including financial inclusion, management and leadership, participatory monitoring and social audits, conflict management, vocational skills and business development, community development planning.
  • Assist capacity building unit to design and deliver training and workshops for local authorities.
  • Take the lead in ensuing the quality of training and capacity building activities.
  • Carry out assessment/evaluation of trainings and capacity building activities and provide suggestion and recommendations to improve quality of trainings.
  • Assist field manager and officers in developing project implementation plan.
  • Provide technical support to the field manager and officers for the implementation of DRR and governance activities.
  • To ensure transparency, train staff on community Participatory monitoring and social audit
  • Assist project team in terms of community mobilization in every step of the implementation
  • Provide technical assistance to local stakeholders, such as Community-Based Disaster Management Committee (CBDMC), tasks forces, CDCs, groups, and associations, for planning, implementation, monitoring, and advocacy.
  • Maintain training-related information and database, analyse information, and make sure that training and capacity building activities improve skills and knowledge of target participants.
  • Conduct regular field visits, provide coaching and mentoring support to field staff.
  • Assist field officers and assistants for targeting and selecting project participants/target groups.
  • Assist deputy manager and technical specialist in developing and revising technical manuals and guidelines.
  • Capture, document and share lessons learned and best practices.
  • Conduct regular field visits and organize meetings and discussions with local authorities, community leaders and target groups.
  • Perform any other duties/tasks as assigned by the line supervisor.
 
 

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Development
  • Study, agroeconomic, agribusiness management or related subjects. Master’s
  • degree is preferred with related professional field.
  • Experience:  2-3 years relevant experience with I/NGOs, UN agencies or similar
  • organizations. Proven experience in rural livelihood, producer groups, vocational trainings, value chains, and market promotion and linkages.Experience in designing and delivering of livelihoods & governance trainings
  • for staff, stakeholders, and communities. Good monitoring, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication in English and fluency in local languages (Dari and Pashto) both written and spoken
  • Good Computer skill, especially with MS Office packages.
  • Commitment to the mission and the core values of Swedish Committee for Afghanistan
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of planning, reporting, and budgeting
  • Ability and willingness to travel and stay in all SCA coverage areas
  • Ready to work, live and travel in an intricate and strenuous environment
  • Honest, proactive and well mannered.
  • Familiarity with the North-eastern region where SCA operates
  • Local candidates will be preferred.To be an Afghan citizen.
