About (WASSA):

The Women’s Activities and Social Services Association (WASSA) was established in 2002 as Afghanistan's first women’s independent organization. WASSA aims to promote the women’s equal participation in socio-economic sectors and support the current humanitarian crisis by providing emergency humanitarian and livelihood assistance to vulnerable households, especially women.

To support WASSA’s vision and mission, some potential candidates are needed to be recruited for a project funded by UN Women to strengthen women’s livelihoods through increased access to skills and resources. The project will be implemented in three districts of Herat Province for a period of 15 months.

Job Description

Job Responsibility

  • To effectively and efficiently manage and follow up on projects in Herat province districts and ensure timely completion of project activities with the approved plan and set targets as well as do project coordination, implementation, reporting, and monitoring.
  • Support the project staff and work with the Head of the Program in providing project planning and implementation of the project.
  • Contribute to an Operational plan for the project at the province level to ensure necessary planning and implementation takes place smoothly and efficiently at the provincial and at center level.
  • Conduct timely monitoring of projects to ensure correct measurement of results, outcomes, and impacts and to facilitate learning towards continuous improvements in the delivery of projects with WASSA.
  • Prepare fact-based messages and quality material, particularly the collection of good success stories/case studies that reflect the smooth implementation of activities at the province level.
  • Identify and inform the head of the program and Program team of successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to planning, conducting, and/or responding to WASSA performance evaluation reviews.
  • Carry out specific training, mentoring, and other capacity-building activities for staff in planning, training, supervision, monitoring, and other technical areas at the province level.
  • Able to present project objectives and activities at national and international levels.
  • Coordinate project team planning activities, including the development of annual, semi-annual, and quarterly work plans.
  • Manage all Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) activities including ensuring the Project coordinator prepares the timely monthly project implementation plans and field reports.
  • Oversee the monthly budget for the project activities.
  • Facilitate and participate in workshops, trainings, and meetings organized by WASSA, and/or Donors and contribute effectively to the success of the events.

 

Staff Management:

  • Effectively supervise all direct reports in the performance of their duties.
  • Ensure the proper implementation of the Donor’s performance management system for direct reports, including job description and annual performance objectives development, regular feedback, mid-term reviews, and annual performance appraisals.
  • Proactively address performance issues through regular, constructive, and honest feedback and coaching.
  • Identify necessary staff development and career development opportunities for direct reports.
  • Ensure levels of authority and responsibility are clearly defined, understood, and followed by direct reports.
  • Ensure that direct report work is guided by Donor’s core value commitment
  • Ensure the regular collection and analysis of data.
  • Contribute to the preparation of assessment and monitoring missions.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation initiatives & submission of reports in maintaining and using strong monitoring systems to track and report on activities and results to support effective delivery.
  • Periodically review performance metrics with the Monitoring & Evaluation officer and employ the use of data for decision-making processes.
  • Facilitate documentation and dissemination of appropriate case studies, experiences, best practices, and lessons.
  • Encourage sharing of learning and experience with the team, across the organization, and with like-minded/peer organizations.

 

Supervision and Management of Direct Report:

  • Work with the Human Resources to identify training needs for staff as well as to manage, train and develop capacities of the field staff and partners.
  • Ensure that capacity development needs reports with the support of the head of the program are met.
  • Ensure the head of the program prepare a detailed implementation plan (DIP)

Administration:

  • Support procurement and administrative tasks.
  • Support safety and security tasks at all levels.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to you by the Head of the program.

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • Excellent in Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with an INGO or a Development organization.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience in Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA), Livelihoods, Micro and medium women businesses, gender, and nutrition.
  • Solid experience in community mobilization approaches and coordination with governments
  • Experience in emergency response, development projects, and budget management
  • Specific experience in the application of relevant approaches, methodologies, and practices.
  • Experience working with international NGOs
  • Strong supervisory and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Microsoft Office Package skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
