About AWEC

AWEC is a non-political, non-profit, woman-headed national organization established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, who rallied together to address the lack of facilities for Afghan refugees in Islamabad and eventually Peshawar, in Pakistan. AWEC has always been involved in advocacy and awareness-raising for women and children’s rights while providing services to those who frequently fall through safety nets. In recent years, one of AWEC’s core activities has been to support women through mobilizing Afghans, from local communities to political elites, towards the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating violence against women.

Our vision in AWEC is “an inclusive and just society with sensitized and responsive public and private sector, where all women and children have access to opportunities to improve their quality of life in order to realize their full potential”.

Job Description

Job Summary:

The project manager is a highly experienced project and grant management professional interested in supporting microbusinesses and SMEs. The project ensures timely completion of project activities, guiding, assisting, and instructing project personnel to perform effectivity and efficiently, coordination, communication to the donor,and building consistent, reliable project management and tracking and reporting mechanism.

Job Description:

  • Plan, execute, and facilitate the project interventions strictly according to the approved plan, budget, and timeframe.
  • Ensure the project team effectively works with CSOs and supervises risk assessment and due diligence processes.
  • Manage resources and coordinate efforts of the team members to deliver the project effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure that the project meets the stipulated and expected results by overseeing the quality control of the whole project cycle.
  •  Manage day-to-day project operations following approved and agreed-on policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Ensure the team works effectively to achieve the project target by promoting team spirit and controlling and leading the project staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental procedures across the department for building a peaceful working environment.
  • Establish a safeguarding culture across all program levels by implementing the safeguarding policy. Act as a critical source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring team members are appropriately trained and supported and have access to resources regarding identified and actioned issues by the safeguarding policy and procedure.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure if any reportable incident occurs, and encourage others to do so.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Skill in project planning, implementation, budget, and financial management
  • Strong team management skill
  • Knowledge of community mobilization
  • Effective decision making

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience working in grant project management or similar role.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving,and management skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Detail-oriented

Education:

Bachelor's degree in business management or administration, finance, accounting, marketing, or related field.

Work Experience:

At least 5-10 years of experience in project management and grant managementwith reputed national or international organizations.

Languages Skills:

Fluency in written and spoken Dari and Pushto languages and English is preferred.
