Overview of position

Treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) is one of the key components of PND activities serviced through BPHS NGOS. It is primarily implemented in the emergency affected provinces where the prevalence of SAM is high. The services will be expanded as part of emergency response once there is emergency induced SAM cases. Therapeutic nutrition supplies (e.g F-75, F-100 and RUTF) are core elements of the services. PND manage the overall supply chain including forecasting, requesting, distributing, and collecting the reports on a quarterly basis.

Purpose of the post:

The main objective of this assignment is to support PND to manage quality IMAM services delivery as inpatient care and outpatient care. Also, to manage the therapeutic supply and minimize the nutrition supply stock outs through improved nutrition supply management system. The technical assistance will also be responsible for emergency related activities in PND including coordinating with Nutrition cluster. 

Job Description

  1. Assist with the development and implementation of the business development (start-up and scale-up) and skills training (TVET) components of SRR and ensure implementation of business support, employment and skills development activities including the coordination with implementing partners, selection, and support to project participants, and monitoring of activities to ensure achievements of targets.
  2. Contribute to developing the technical assessment documents, business plan and other enquired documents related to the support the enterprises. Collect and share the required data (when needed) from the enterprises and TVET activities and share with the relevant business development team leads in central level.
  3. Ensure alignment to national priorities in the field of Economic growth, Private Sector development as per the Afghanistan National Peace & Development Framework (ANPDF) and priorities of the UN Frameworks such as Transitional Engagement Framework (TEF).
  4. Provide technical support and oversight to field staff and support field monitoring of the activities to ensure quality standards are met are in line with the relevant guidelines, project indicators and benchmarks.
  5. Contribute to reporting, including for visibility and communication purposes, on SME support, business, and skills development activities, provide inputs for monthly reports as well as for any other relevant documents / publications.
  6. Contribute to the development of new business development activities, skills development (including TVET, apprenticeships and job placements) and employment projects in coordination with relevant colleagues and stakeholders.
  7. Ensure adequate integration of cross-cutting issues such as protection, labour rights, gender and decent work in project assessments and implementation, in close coordination with relevant IOM units.
  8. Maintain close coordination with relevant government departments and relevant stakeholders that are engaged in supporting businesses in that province.
  9. Undertake regular duty travel to all target provinces.
  10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Entrepreneurship, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Entrepreneurship, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, start-up businesses and TVET in Afghanistan.
  • Knowledge and experience of financial and legal services for the private sector in Afghanistan.
  • Solid knowledge of key issues related to business development including strategy and planning, finance, accounting and marketing.
  • Experience in working with social enterprises, knowledge and understanding of issues related to returning migrants, IDPs and (re)integration is an advantage.
  • Experience in remotely supporting teams and proven good communicational, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relations and cooperate with relevant government and community counterparts, international organizations, implementing partners and private sector entities.
  • Experience with international organizations, UN agencies, (international) non-governmental organizations is preferred.

VI. Languages:

Required: Pashto and English

Working knowledge of Dari is an advantage.
