About Women’s Activities and Social Services Association (WASSA)

About (WASSA):

The Women’s Activities and Social Services Association (WASSA) was established in 2002 as Afghanistan's first women’s independent organization. WASSA aims to promote the women’s equal participation in socio-economic sectors and support the current humanitarian crisis by providing emergency humanitarian and livelihood assistance to vulnerable households, especially women.

To support WASSA’s vision and mission, some potential candidates are needed to be recruited for a project funded by UN Women to strengthen women’s livelihoods through increased access to skills and resources. The project will be implemented in three districts of Herat Province for a period of 15 months.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Program Management Support

  • Provide program and administrative support to the program team in the preparation of various program documents, such as concept notes, budgets, proposals, and work plans on program implementation arrangements.
  • Follow up the plan and report of each project and track all activities of the projects to ensure the activities of the project are on schedule.
  • Identify sources, and gather and compile data and information to prepare documents.
  • Support the ongoing projects on tackling any challenge, and coordinating with the team for the solution. 
  • Help the project team provide guidance on the routine implementation of the project, and tracking the activities.

 2. Financial Management Support   

  • Contribute to budget preparation for upcoming projects and provide narrations
  • Take part in budget revisions and operational and financial tasks of the project.

 3. Administrative Support to the Program Unit

  • Provide administrative support to the program team in organizing events, meetings, workshops, etc.
  • Coordinate the routine meetings (agenda, informing, note detailed minutes, circulation, follow up the decisions).
  • Assist the Program team on new projects staffing, mobilization, and preparing the documents/letters.
  • Update and maintain hard/soft files for easy access and retrieval of all the projects and relevant departments.
  • Prepare presentation material/slides in PowerPoint for presentations for the meetings/workshops and keep all papers ready for meetings.

4. Support Project Quality Assurance:

  • Make sure each project has a Quality Assurance/MEAL plan and follow up on the implementation of the plan.
  • Go to the field with MEAL staff for Quality Assurance (monitoring & evaluation) on behalf of the Program.

5. Supports knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the CO focusing on the achievement of the

following results:

  • With HR, following up on planning on capacity building needs assessment and implementation.
  • Support the capacity-building plan for the operations/projects staff and follow up on the implementation.

Job Requirements

  • Fluency in written and spoken English Dari and Pashtu Language.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills, motivation, and teamwork.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English is required.
  • Ability to work efficiently under time pressure.
  • Computer skills (MS Office).
  • Previous experience with Humanitarian response programs.
