About Future Generations Afghanistan

Future Generations (FG) is the collective name for an international network of non-governmental organizations including FG Country Programs in Asia and Africa, Future Generations University (FGU) and its alumni in 17 countries, academia, and individual’s experts. The original charitable organization, Future Generations, was established in 1992 for the purpose of learning from, and building upon the world’s most successful examples of community empowerment and social change. It is complemented by the Future Generations Graduate School (Future Generations University) in 2006 in the State of West Virginia with authorization to provide a Master's Degree in Applied Community Change focus on Conservation and Peace building. The Future Generations Afghanistan (FGA) established in May 2002 and obtained its registration certificate from Ministry of Economy, Government of Afghanistan in October 2005. Since 2007, FGA has been operational in Eastern Afghanistan, and successfully completed development and humanitarian programs in Nangarhar, Laghman , Kunar,Nuristan,Logar, Herat and Bamyan Provinces.

Job Description

He/she will work under the direct supervision of Project Manager and will constantly liaise with Project Implementation staff for the successful implementation of project. Responsible for the training to staff and will lead the beneficiary trainings process in order to increase the poultry farmers’ incomes through the effective delivery of project outcomes. He will provide update and reports to project manager.

Job Requirements

Assess the farmers' current practices and provide guidance on how to correct issues that may limit productivity
Provide training to poultry farm owners in relation to hygiene, management and proper handling of the chicks;
Collect regular data regarding poultry production, productivity, feeding, vaccination, medication and poultry diseases needed for the project
Solve local technical poultry issues where possible and report on-going problems including outbreaks of diseases and poultry mortality
Prepare technical reports, concept papers, project implementation plans, and other technical documents needed for project implementation;
Coordinate closely with suppliers of poultry input materials during the supply phase of the project;
deliver extension services to project beneficiaries during the project implementation period
Guide the provincial team in collecting poultry related data, analyzing it, preparing reports and proposing recommendations for improving the project implementation
Ensure that project implementation activities are coordinated with other stakeholders to promote synergies and avoid overlaps
Advice farm owners on better use of feeds, housing, water, and other important aspects of layer and broiler farming and poultry rearing;
Prepare seasonal calendar of poultry activities for the districts and province and train farmers on its usage
Supervise, mentor and support provincial teams in the implementation of poultry projects and provide them on the job trainings as and when needed;
Assist and train beneficiaries on best practices regarding the poultry farming to improve the quality and quantity of their production

Qualification:

Advance English, Pashto & Dari
Good communication (spoken and written) skills, including ability to explain and present program related information/requirements.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people
Experience in designing and implementing large scale poultry projects is required

Familiarity in conducting production level analysis, market analysis, and poultry processing/ marketing analysis is desirable
