Job Description

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. OST medical doctor should follow the YHDO policy, rules and regulations.
2. He or she is reportable to provincial coordinator and M&E manager.
3. He /she will provide monthly and quarterly implementation plan of DIC activities and
implementation follow up to achieve the indicator.
4. Responsible for the planning, implementing and supervision of all activities in DIC and outreach
on regular basis.
5. Medical doctor of OST is responsible to have regular follow up of OST clients , in treatment
stages such us 1) Selection phase ,2) Motivation stage ,3) induction stage ,4) Stabilization stage
,5) Maintenance stage and nominate the client for stage Drug free (6).
6. Medical doctor will follows the clients after motivation stage to ensure about their readiness for
starting OST and receive the client agreement.
7. In induction stage , before starting the MMT all require laboratory tests should complete for
selected OST client to ensure .
8. Medical doctors should ensure in stabilization stage of client regarding suitable dose of
Methadone and client will safely transfer to maintenance stage of OST.
9. All clients under the OST in stabilization stage in Bed should closely control , daily health
education program (more focus on narcotic drug hazard and benefits of methadone) should
arrange for them
10. To provide a mechanism of daily follow up of OST client during OST distribution in health
facility.
11. Regular follow up to ensure the proper registration and recording of client to detect the daily abs
cent /drop out cases.
12. Strong follows up of OST clients in DIC and outreach to achieve the expected retention rate and
target of OST.
13. Follow up of clients to prevent them from multiple drug use with MMT.
14. The duration of all stages of OST treatment should proper register.
15. He or she is responsible for pharmacy and stock management of OST to avoid from expiration of
OST and shortage of supply.
16. To establish the proper protection mechanism for OST in DIC, to ensure that the responsible
person will have access to mentioned stock and it will protect from unnecessary hands as well as
ensure the absolute avoiding from leakage of Methadone from health facility to outside.
17. He or she will provide the proper system to follow up the client after using of OST in DIC and
have preparation for over dose management.
18. Provide monthly and quarterly progress report of the DIC to provincial coordinator and project
manager and report the performance against each indicator.
19. To facilitate safe and easy access to appropriate health services for injecting drug users
20. Capacity building of staff through providing training.
21. To take part in all official meeting, workshop and events of harm reduction.
22. Arrangement of weekly and monthly meetings to identify shortfall and to evolve corrective
measures/plan of action.
23. To insure that harm reduction services are provided in a proper manner.

Skills Required

• Fluency in English, Pashto/Dari
