Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.

Job Description

Responsibilities:
• Under take Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) of children 6-59 month of age
and record of nutrition status.
• Register and under take Growth Monitoring and promotion (GMP) including
measure weight, height, age and check edema of all children under two years of age.
• Conduct GMP based counseling of mothers/caregivers of all children under two
years of age on appropriate Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN)
practices and infection prevention.
- If the child is normal, encourage and counsel Mother to reinforce and
promote age appropriate MIYCN practices.
- If child is suffering from SAM refer to the doctor of the clinic for giving
adequate treatment and counseling.
- Counsel Mothers/ caregivers to bring they’re under two children for the
continues monthly GMP visit.
• Briefing the beneficiary on how to use medicines, RUTF, RUSF and other food and
when to return for follow up visit.
• Triage the patient and provide first AID.
• Collect accurate Nutrition information using HMIS standard format.
• Check where child has received Vitamin A supplementation during previous NID, if
no then refer to the administration of Vitamin A in clinic.
• Measuring lactating mothers MUAC, weight, height, and BMI and categories as
normal, underweight, overweight, and obese after the first ANC till the Mother
Breastfeed her child.
• Provide individualized Nutrition counseling on appropriate practices, based on the
BMI finding.
• Check whether lactating mother receive adequate IFA tablet during three Month
after delivery.
• Conduct Nutrition awareness session to the clients visiting health facility.
• Work in close coordination with other sections of HF such as EPI and MCH on
strengthening internal referral on eligible clients.
• Support and advise the mother on infant feeding and vaccination. Promote exclusive
breastfeeding.

Maintain and ensure safe storage of all equipment you use. Report faults and
damaged equipment.
• Organizing, managing and controlling the Nutrition activities.
• To keep record and on time report of Nutrition activities as required.
• Attending all necessary meetings, workshop and training.

 

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Graduated from recognized nursing institute.
- More the 2-year experience in the same position.
Abilities/skills:
• Fluency spoken written and reading local languages.
• Good interpersonal relation and skills
• Be respectful and proper attitude against the Clients
• Good team worker.
