About Aga Khan Health Service-Afghanistan

Aga Khan Health Service, Afghanistan (AKHS,A), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is a long-term partner of the ‘Ministry of Public Health, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’ for the implementation of “Basic Package of Health Services” in three provinces (Baghlan, Bamyan and Badakhshan), and implementation of Essential Package of  Hospital Service (EPHS) in Badakhshan and Bamyan province. AKHS-A is implementing three Community Midwifery Education Program Schools each in Bamyan, Badakhshan and Baghlan

Job Description

  • Overall management of mental health and psychosocial department.
  • Conduct daily ward rounds for observation and review of patients with neuropsychiatric problems. Ensure patient case notes, transfer, referral, and discharges are written on daily basis and ensure regular monitoring of patients’ progress.
  • Run Neuropsychiatric clinic on a regular basis and attend to emergency cases when necessary.
  • Carry out emergency surgical procedures when on duty/ on need basis.
  • Liaise with Consultants on handling specialized cases in provision of patients’ health care.
  • Participate in all clinical activities and support departmental heads in timely and accurate medical reports, audits, and mortality reviews.
  • Participate in all clinical audit activities, presentations, rounds and clinical teaching by visiting consultants.
  • Follow the routine roster arrangements by Clinical Director or his representative.
  • Observe and comply with environmental health and occupational safety measures and regulations.
  • Provide professional guidance to facilitate growth and development of the institution.
  • Ensure effective utilization of resources.
  • Work with subordinates to establish effective managerial control through delegation and coordination.
  • Stimulate achievement and evaluate performance on a regular basis.
  • Work effectively with superiors, peers, and subordinates.
  • Participate in regular participative meetings.
  • Having active role regarding IPC of the hospital.
  • Report to Head of your Department.
  • Proper management of neuropsychiatric consultations with FMIC through telemedicine.

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Education: MD specialized in neuropsychiatric from reputable organization/Hospital. /Medical Doctor with 3 Years’ Experience in Mental Health
  • Work Experience: At least 3 years of experience as neuropsychiatric specialist/Medical Doctor with 3 Years’ Experience in Mental Health
  • Skill: Good communication skill in both Dari and English and proven management ability.
  • Language: Fluency at local languages.
  • General:     Bamyan local or willing to stay long in Bamyan.
