Job Description

Position Summary:

The Multipurpose youth facilitator/coordinator will be responsible for youth engagement to ensure young people are linked with appropriate supports (mental health and psychosocial assistance, life skills education, education and counseling on employability skills, access to employment, computer programs, and literacy education.) he/she will be engaging young people across project locations through a variety of approaches to ensures they aware of, and confident to access support. He/she will work to build and maintain strong local networks committed to improving the lives of young people, will promote volunteerism, help to identify young survivors of violence, and also support vulnerable young people through livelihood programs by providing them some skills training and business development support.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a communications strategy for promoting the services to young people and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to project planning, evaluation, data collection, and work within delegated timeframes.
  • Develop and maintain supportive relationships with young people, key programs, and community stakeholders. 
  • Provide mental health, and psychosocial services by full-time qualified MHPSS councilors.
  • Provide life skills education that includes awareness sessions on SRHR with a focus on peer education and healthy lifestyles including hygiene promotion, problem-solving, critical thinking, and prevention of violence.
  • Create a safe space for girls to explore their values and identities.
  • Encourage the development of positive peer relationships among program participants.
  • Work on ensuring that programs meet goals, and objectives and create the desired outcomes, following the direction of the director of the program regarding which program, will be offered and adapting/enhancing when necessary.
  • Lead specialized activities virtually in program areas such as wellness, social skill building, educational activities, team building, creative challenges, technology-related activities, etc.
  • Provide technical support for vulnerable young people through livelihood programs
  • Participate in project staff meetings, and ensure effective communication
  • Facilitate weekly youths and women group meetings to discuss progress challenges and solutions
  • Prepare monthly progress report and submit to project manager  
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor that are within the general scope of the described responsibilities or of project
 

Job Requirements

Academic Background and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, youth development, community development, or equivalent degree in a related field  
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with children and youths
  • Capacity to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Capacity to work efficiently within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends

Skills:

  • Dari or Pashtu is mandatory
  • Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills
  • Good Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of community development especially working with women,
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and presentation skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meeting of deadlines
  • Good reporting skills including report compilation, analysis and presentation
  • Culture sensitive and respect for local norms
  • Confidentiality and privacy
