About Marie Stopes International Afghanistan

Marie Stopes International Afghanistan (MSIA) was established after registration with government of Afghanistan in August 2002. MSIA follows the mission statement of MSI, which is Improve Afghan women’s health and wellbeing so that they can in turn build strong and healthy families.. Our focus is to contribute in reducing maternal mortality ratio, providing quality and sustainable MCH/RH and family planning services and information across all provinces of Afghanistan in coordination with Ministry of Public Health, Afghanistan.

MSIA is currently operating in 14 provinces of Afghanistan namely, Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Jawzjan Faryab, Nengarhar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Takhar, Samangan, Helmand, kandahar and Kapisa.

MSIA delivers MCH/RH and family planning services through various channels such that centres, outreaches, social marketing and MS Ladies. With the Power of Ten strategy, MSI focuses on strategic and technical leadership in producing, interpreting and using high quality evidence to fulfill its mission. Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct annual internal audit across all MSIA  health facilities and  meet the benchmark of 25% in  each quarter 
  • Develop action plans for each individual site and address the gaps identified through internal audit
  • Assess competency of service providers and quality of health service provision based on  MSIA standard competency assessment checklists and provide technical support
  • Conduct competency assessment of public/private sector providers as per their existing  MoU with MSIA
  • Assure incident management is rolled out across all MSIA sites and all providers understand systematic incident management pathways
  • Provide regular updates to clinical staff on new/revised regulations and standards and ensure all required policies, guidelines are available at each site
  • Conduct continuous supportive supervision with related supervisees; and provide technical support based on supervisees needs
  • Make sure quality medical supplies and equipment are available at each MSIA clinic and are maintained in good condition and used appropriately
  • Maintain soft and hard filling system of all Medical Quality Assurance documents at support office as well as individual site
  • Coordinate MAT meeting as per the standard agenda on regular bases with relevant members
  • Follow and strictly implement action plans developed for internal audit, external audit, MAT meetings, incidents( red and amber) and collect evidence for each
  • Follow up channel specific monitoring and supervision plan with channel leads and provincial coordinators and ensure gaps have been identified through each visit with action plan and evidence being developed and implemented
  • Attend MDT in country and out of Country training/ workshops  as required to develop personal capacity and skills  
  • Provide project/program quality assurance reports to SMT in coordination with the team leader
  • Organize and conduct clinical SRH/FP (Basic/ToT/refresher and on the job training) according to MSIA annual training plan and as per the training need assessment results
  • Conduct annual MEM drill exercises for all MSIA service providers as well as Public and Private Providers
  • Keep records and inventory of all training equipment, manage supplies and coordinate with relevant team members to ensure adequate equipment and resources are available for training
  • Coordinate with MoPH / NGOs, UN and private sector partners to organize and conduct SRH/FP training at national level
  • Participate in SRH/FP working groups organized by MoPH and other partner organizations
  • Develop PAC and implant expansion and execution plan as per the project log frames
  • Conduct competency assessment and annual endorsement for MSIA clinical trainers
  • Any other relevant tasks assigned by line manager/Team Leader

 

Key Measure:

  • 90% or more is achieved in each area of internal audit indicators and model areas increased Existence of model site is and added value
  • Incident Management system rolled out across all sites and providers understands risk rating well
  • All MSIA providers have been competency assessed for each SRH/FP service they provide and have  achieve level1
  • Action plan for internal audit /external audits, MAT, red and amber incident and QTA have been completed with evidence in place
  • All MSIA standard policies and guidelines are available across all MSIA sites
  • Training and competency training database in updated on timely manner

            Annual MEM drill is conducted for all service providers

 

Job Requirements

  • Obstetrician/gynecologist specialist /Master’s degree in Public health or related discipline required
  • 3-5 years Proven experience in providing SRH/FP training
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience in SRH/FP service provision
  • Solid experience in project management and working in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to influence others within the organization while being open to other people’s views through negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and monitoring internal procedures for adherence to regulations and policies related to projects.
