Job Description

Position Overview:

The MNH Senior Cluster Supervisor will be based in Kandahar and will work under the supervision of the Cluster Manager and City Manager to implement the MNH program activities including Safe surgery, maternal health, newborn health, family planning, MPDSR, and nutrition interventions based on the mentorship approach to support strengthening maternal, newborn and nutrition health in UHI targeted health facilities in Kandahar city.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the clinical specialist team for smooth implementation of maternal, newborn, safe surgery, FP, and MPDSR program interventions.
  • Support program management of maternal, newborn, safe surgery, FP, and MPDSR
  • Support implementation and formation of team and selection of onsite clinical representative for maternal, newborn, safe surgery, FP, and MPDSR program activities
  • Support the clinical specialist teams in the facilitation of initial assessment, analysis, and action plan for improvement, learning, and data strengthening in MNH‐ Nutrition programs
  • Assist cluster manager and clinical specialist teams in developing a detailed mentoring schedule for monthly visits to each facility including an improvement plan, follow‐up sessions, learning activities, and data review.
  • Close coordination with the technical team to support capacity‐building supplies and tools to facilitate the conduction of Mentorship activities in relevant MNH programs
  • With close coordination of the technical team, ensure all learning materials, job aids, and quality tools are available at public and private health facilities
  • Conducted coaching and mentorship visits from facilities and wrote and submitted timely reports as required including key issues, achievements, successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Participation in MNDSR, and QI committee meetings to provide support to improve quality of care.
  • Participate in the project’s internal meetings and share challenges and lessons learned in implementing activities
  • Comply with project operational, security, and other guidelines and policies.

Job Requirements

Qualifications Required:

  • Obs/ Gyn specialist
  • At least 3‐5 years of clinical experience in maternal and newborn health
  • Previous experience in competency‐based training and supportive supervisory roles is advantageous
  • Ability in writing, analyzing, and communication skills in Dari, Pashtu, and English
  • Computer skills
  • Committed and willing to travel and facility visits
  • Ability to work with the team
