Scope of work:

 

International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs. Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, non-political, non-sectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Work directly with patients suffering from a range of mental health problems and provide a good standard of practice care in Kod-e-Barq Hospital.
  • Assess patients by reviewing their mental and physical health, their background and current social situation, thoughts and past health issues, as well as any potential risk factors,
  • Take note and keep detailed records of any interactions and decisions
  • Decide on suitable psychiatric treatment plans for patients, which may include a combination of medical, psychological, and social interventions in conjunction with other health professionals and MHPSS counsellors in Hospital.
  • Prescribe medication when necessary
  • Monitor and review treatment regularly
  • Work closely within, or lead a multidisciplinary team of health professionals, including MHPSS counsellors in Hospital.
  • Supervise and teach junior medical staff depending on their post and MHPSS Counselors.
  • Determine a line of treatment for patients and implement it
  • Work with a team of doctors if the patients on their treatment and help them understand the disease
  • Counsel the patient and their close relatives in coordination with MHPSS counsellors.
  • Coordination and cooperation with the MHPSS counsellors in Hospital.
  • Conduct other MHPSS-related activities as requested.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • MD doctors trained on mgGAP or mental Health medications, psychiatrist.
  • Have excellent knowledge of physiology, anatomy, psychology, pharmacology and mental health law, as well as an awareness of the social factors that influence mental health
  • Minimum of 2 year of experience in an MHPSS related role
  • Desirable: + 1 year of experience working with/ in Health Facilities
