About Youth Health and Development Organization (YHDO):

YHDO is a non-governmental and non-for-profit organization established in 2009, registered with ministry of economy in Afghanistan. YHDO works with interdisciplinary professionals to develop and implement innovative, culturally appropriate, evidence based interventions.

 

Job Description

Main purpose of TOR

YHDO is looking for medical nurses to provide primary health care, abscess, wound and overdose management services, basic lab tests to people who use drugs, homeless drug users, spouse of male drug users, women, children, and vulnerable population.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To provide primary health care services
  • To ensure referral services for severe ill clients
  • To assist medical doctor in management of the project
  • To provide abscess, wound and overdose management services (dressing for wounded patients)
  • To be able to provide, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Syphilis testing
  • Sterilize all contaminated equipment's after their using
  • Drug administration to the patients according to the treatment protocol
  • Conducting health education sessions for the patients
  • In coordination with the project manager, equip the center with supplies specified by YHDO
  • To support the team on Developed and disseminated IEC materials on drug use prevention, mental health.
  • To support the team on organization of youth drug prevention initiative events
  • To attend the management meeting
  • To record the center data through recording and reporting forms of the project
  • Provide regular monthly activity plan to project manager
  • Maintaining reports of patients’ medical histories, and monitoring changes in their condition.
  • Maintaining hygienic and safe working environment in compliance with the healthcare procedures.

Educating patients’ families about the disease and its treatment

 

Job Requirements

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • University degree in the health, or graduated from recognized nursing institute
  • Strong understanding of primary health care,
  • Understanding of basic lab tests Hbs, HCV, HIV, syphilis
  • 3 years of working experiences in nursing area
  • Experience in working in drug prevention, IDU
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills, with the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to show initiative, manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Proven skills in effective team work
