Job Description

  1. Overall Responsibilities
  • Point of contact for IT and digitalization topics, information management, IT security and data protection, focusing on GIZ internal aspects as well as the local and digital infrastructure and demand.
  • Actively participating in the further expansion of the digital network, i.e. supporting users by introducing the use of existing and new digital GIZ systems such as the SharePoint platform known as Integrated Digital Applications (IDA) / Microsoft 365, Document Management System (DMS), Microsoft Teams, etc. as well as providing orientation for future digital solutions from GIZ HQ
  • Identifying relevant problems and issues and assisting in formulating implementation-oriented solutions
  • Further developing instruments and assisting in introducing innovation and change
  • Managing knowledge by disseminating and documenting know-how, experience and information
  • Maintain all working hardware (IT infrastructure) and software (as well as Information Systems) in optimum condition so that they operate and function properly.
  • Implementing and complying with GIZ IT standards as well as ISO 27001 Information Security Management Certification standard.
  • Providing technical support to projects and programs by dealing with questions and problems relating to IT and databases
  • Be prepared to support and Visit to the provinces whenever required.
  • Complete support to IT Manager in performing the tasks anytime anywhere and whenever is required.

 

  1. Tasks

Hardware Related Tasks:

  •  Monitors the state of hardware and software in use and in consultation with management, helps purchase and improve hardware and networks, assists with testing new hardware systems, and identifies options for upgrading existing systems and peripherals
  • Deals with maintenance, purchase and improvement of server, PCs notebooks, printers, digital cameras, scanners and other hardware components
  • Discusses possible new purchases of or improvement to hardware and network equipment with the Administrative Director, based on the requirements and recommendations outlined in GIZ’s IT guidelines
  • Supporting GIZ Projects and procurement unit in providing the Standard specification, Evaluation of IT Equipment’s and ensuring the same IT standard in overall GIZ.

Software related Tasks:

  • Implements, maintains, configures, and assists to purchase all GIZ standard and custom software (e.g.  Microsoft 365, WINPACCS, SAP, Payroll, Microsoft ATP)
  • Tests new or upgraded software and updates all software to the latest versions
  • Establishes/ maintains proper back-up systems and ensures system security
  • Ensures that the anti-virus software is updated periodically
  • Maintains and updates existing Websites
  • Coordinates necessary modifications to the existing home page in consultation with office management and the project or program managers
  • Microsoft Windows Server-Administration (Windows Server 2019)
  • Active-Directory Installation/ Administration
  • Domain Controller Administration
  • Exchange or SMTP services deployment and maintain
  • WSUS, Radius Server administration.
  • Network Attached Storage (NAS) administration
  • File- and Printer-Sharing Networking
  • Installs/ manages and maintains a local area network (LAN) including its VLANs and WLANs.
  • Consults suppliers to guarantee the availability of the network, telephone system and IT hardware
  • Maintains market research on quality and economical prices and advises procurement on purchase of IT equipment
  • Trains GIZ staff on IT issues, provides starter training for office support staff
  • Installs, manages, and maintains the general administration of the entire system, including server, network equipment (switches, router, gateways, firewalls, wireless access points) and VoIP equipment ( IP PBX, IP phones and VoIP gateways)
  • Back up data and deals with the problem of data security
  • Handles troubleshooting and solving of all computer and internet related problems,
  • Prepares information needed and maintains telephonic support
  • Ensures that an IT emergency service is available
  • Notifies the GIZ IT help desk of fundamental problems with GIZ IT applications
  • Gives advisory assistance to projects on matters that concern electronic data processing
  • Keeps an inventory of hard and software and updates list as soon as changes occur
  • Documents the installation and settings on the server and all computers
  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of the management
  • Well connected to colleagues from GIZ division DIGITS and other IT colleagues
 

Job Requirements

  • BCS / MCS ( IT / Networking)
  • Microsoft Certification MCSA / MCSE is required.
  • CISCO Certificates CCNA / CCNP is required
  • At least 4-5 years’ professional experience in the field of IT/Digitalization
  • Experience in information security and ISO 27001 Security Certification
  • Expert level knowledge on all Microsoft 365 apps and services.
  • Expert level knowledge on windows operating systems, Windows Server and services, Exchange Server and Microsoft Advance Threat Protection
  • Good knowledge on Cisco Meraki Appliances configuration and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with IT hardware and software systems, IT network systems and database software
  • Previous experience in managing IT system in a large organization, international organization or NGO will be an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of specific GIZ software (SAP, APS, AMS, WINPACCS, etc.) and the GIZ intranet
  • Certifications are an additional asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
  • Experience in conducting IT related trainings
  • Fluency in spoken and written English language
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed as agreed with management
