Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with vendors for procurement, maintenance and payment of products and services.
  • Install, Maintain and Troubleshoot the DHCP server, file server, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, SQL server and email servers, including establishing a regular backup mechanism.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of the server room.
  • Improving network functionality to ensure optimal network performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for system installations, configurations, upgrades, and disaster recovery activities.
  • Assist to revise IT SOP, IT Guide and IT Policies.
  • Conduct regular physical inspections of IT equipment for repair and maintenance.
  • Provide IT support to all Afghanaid staff.
  • Train new Afghanaid colleagues on network and other computer peripherals usage.
  • Preserve the integrity of the network, database, and file storage.
  • Coordinate implementation of data communication equipment and applications with end-user departments, vendors, provincial and London office.
  • Manage an up-to-date and forward looking inventory list of all the computers and all IT equipment.
  • Ensure comprehensive, accurate, and timely reporting to Management as required.
  • Undertake any work assigned by the supervisor as necessary.

Job Requirements

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education & Professional Qualification

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science / Information Technology.

Work Experience

At least 5 years’ Practical experience in IT field.

Professional Skills, Competencies, Values and Attitudes

The candidate should have extensive and proven experience in Network design, Implementation and maintenance, Server administration and Knowledge of Cyber Security Guideline.

Strong communication skills in Dari, Pashto, English;

Specifically, the holder of this position should also demonstrate the following:

  • Troubleshooting Process: Demonstrating a systematic approach to problem-solving is essential. To identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Network Configuration: Understand network setup, including IP configuration, wireless routers, and cloud services. Proficiency in networking is crucial for this role.
  • Hardware Deployment: Knowing how to set up and configure technical equipment is essential.
  • Operating System Knowledge: Be well-versed in different operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, macOS) and their functionalities.
  • Database Management: Understand database systems, including data storage, retrieval, and security
  • Native fluency in written English, with a demonstrable ability to write and lay out high quality documents and reports for diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in budget development, monitoring & control as well as financial reporting and analysis.
  • High-level proficiency in relevant ERP software packages and office applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Personal integrity with initiative and drive to get things done and achieve results in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team.
  •  Resilience to travel and work in isolated and possibly insecure locations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
