About Afghan Family Guidance Association |AFGA

Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

IPPF is an alliance of 151 family planning associations known as Member Associations which has projects in over 180 countries. IPPF continues to be the largest civil society provider of reproductive health information and services in the world.

Job Description

  • Support the IT officer in the establishment and expansion of the digital network at AFGA and its Service Delivery Points (SDP) as well as orientation to the concerned staff at AFGA Head office, Regional Offices and SDPs.
  • Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications to ensure their functionality
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks and take necessary actions to resolve the issues.
  • Provide technical support to projects and programs by dealing with questions and problems relating to IT and databases including DHIS, Care Mother Application, HRMIS etc.
  • Maintain all working hardware (IT infrastructure) and software in optimum condition to ensure that they operate and function properly.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems and solve hardware or software faults
  • Maintaining proper records of IT assets and inventories and update them on regular basis
  • Maintain AFGA website update and feed information in close coordination with the Communication Manager. 
  • Assist the Communication Manager in graphic designing of newsletter, reports and other publications.
  • Deal with maintenance, purchase and improvement of server, PCs notebooks, printers, digital cameras, scanners and other hardware components
  • Assist the IT Officer and procurement department in new purchases of IT related assets and equipment in line with the agreed specifications and IT Guidelines.

  • Be prepared to support and Visit to the provinces whenever required.
  • Any other duty as assigned by the IT officer.

Job Requirements

  • BCS ( IT/Networking)
  • Microsoft Certification MCSA / MCSE and CISCO Certificates CCNA / CCNP is an advantage.
  • At least 2 years’ professional experience in the field of IT
  • Experience in information security and ISO 27001 Security Certification
  • Knowledge on windows operating systems, Windows Server and services, Exchange Server and Microsoft Advance Threat Protection
  • Familiarity with IT hardware and software systems, IT network systems and database software
  • Previous experience in managing IT system in NGO will be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
  • Experience in conducting IT related trainings
  • Experience of web designing will be an advantage
  • Fluency in spoken and written English language
