Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries in the world, with 36% of the population below the poverty line. Of the 35.5 million Afghans, about 24 million are living in the countryside, being more or less dependent on agriculture and livestock. Most of the rural families keep small ruminants, but also cattle, donkeys, and poultry are common. As livestock is a vital element of the daily lives of the Afghans, DCA is helping the Afghan people by boosting the health and production of their livestock. Healthier and more productive animals increase food security and are a source of extra income for families.

Job Description

General Position Summary:

The 6 community mobilizers (2 based in each three targeted districts) are responsible for mobilizing the communities, supporting the selection of the beneficiaries, and communicating with the community elders, and districts' local government authorities on different issues related to the project. The community mobilizers will also make up a large portion of the distribution team during the cash distributions and will support in addressing the concerns of project participants and other stakeholders.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the collection of data for baseline assessment, check the data, and submit it to the line supervisors.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly plans for social mobilization, data collection of the baseline survey, and other project activities.
  • Community mobilizer in direct contact with the communities and selected households will mobilize the communities and facilitate the distribution items of the project.
  • Conduct meetings with the communities and local authorities and provide minutes of the meetings.
  • Attend the orientation session on data collection and application of Kobo Collect for the baseline survey.
  • Conduct outreach meetings and explain the project goal, objectives, and beneficiary selection criteria to the community elders and selection committee and keep them informed to avoid any interference in the survey and selection process.
  • Manage community mobilization activities and make sure the most vulnerable households are selected/introduced and enlisted for the project assistance.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data and report any discrepancy and fraud doubt issues to the line supervisor.
  • She/he will be fully involved in the distribution of project items to the households and provide a distribution report
  • Keep close coordination with the line supervisors, communities, and stakeholders on each step of data collection and survey.
  • Prepare site surveying documents and present findings to the project team.

Job Requirements

  • Academic Background: Bachelor in Social science or any other relevant field with 3-years of experience in a similar field
  • Knowledge and experience of emergency operations, especially, cash and voucher responses
  • Knowledge and experience of the target areas
  • Good mobilizing and coordination skills
  • Good command over written and spoken of local languages
  • Ability to work under stressful and time constraint hours
  • Ability to work in a diversified team or environment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to travel, work and live in remote areas
