Job Description

Job Purpose:

The health intern will support the national health team in their day-to-day health projects/program-related activities and will gain her learning objectives of the internship aligned with the national policy and guidelines of MoPH (RMNCH, EPI, IMNCI, Nutrition, MHPSS, TB, Malaria, disability, and others).

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Learn health system of Afghanistan including BPHS, EPHS, RMNCH, EPI, IMNCI and other guidelines and policies.
  • Learn the standard guidelines of IMC and gain knowledge on practical implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with the health team to gain a thorough understanding of the proper documentation process for health program activities, working in coordination with the HR, Logistics, and admin teams.
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Medical Coordinator, draft comprehensive health project reports that align with IMC and donor standards, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to established quality controls.
  • Work closely with the communication team for the development and printing of IEC materials, signboards, and banners.
  • Support Senior Medical Coordinator in documentation of lessons learned case studies and success stories.
  • Provide secretary role for Health training at the national level, invite participants, arrange training venue and other activities.
  • Documents and compiles supportive supervision and monitoring reports of the health team.
  • Rising FSRFs and ToRs for recruitment of new health staff, and PRs for new project procurement and following them up with the relevant departments.
  • Any other task assigns by the Senior Medical Coordinator

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within the International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by the International Medical Corps.

  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Afghan National.  FEMALE candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  2. Recently graduated from four years of Public Health faculty or medical Faculty
  3. Strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential, with having an educational objective for herself.

Should be able to maintain accurate/precise records, perform detailed work, and handle a large volume of work quickly and accurately under time constraints

Experience:

Any previous experience working in Health projects is a plus point.

Competency:

  1. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  2. The candidate must have a strong command of English, Dari, and Pashto Languages.
  3. Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
