Muslim Hands International – Afghanistan MHAF is an International Relief and Development NGO, established in the United Kingdom in 1993 with the objective of providing relief and emergency services and long term sustainable development projects in a cultural, ethical, effective, efficient and transparent manner. Muslim Hands International - Afghanistan works both directly and with partners in over 50 countries worldwide carrying out short and long-term projects in emergency relief, Health, WASH, Education, Protection, shelter, safe water, and TVET programming and a particular intervention of Advocacy and Peace in Afghanistan only. MHAF has been awarded Investor in People (2000, 2004 & 2007) and has also been accredited with Quality Management Systems Standard ISO 9001:2000. The organization is also a signatory to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and various NGOs in Disaster Relief and the main sources of funding of the organization are individual donors, trusts, institutions and DFID.

Muslim Hands International - Afghanistan obtained formal registration from the Ministry of Economy in Afghanistan with registration No. 141 in 2005, and is now firmly established with its Headquarters in Kabul, and is fully engaged in relief and development activities in different parts of the country. The work of Muslim Hands in Afghanistan involves; improving the lives of the poor and vulnerable through the provision of education, health, WASH, Protection, Livelihood, advocacy, Agriculture and other specialized projects e.g. rehabilitation of the disabled, water purification and sanitation schemes, orphan sponsorship scheme, income generation activities and emergency aid/relief activities in Afghanistan. The Afghanistan head office operates in 21 provinces through the head office in Kabul and regional and provincial offices in the respective regions and provinces of Afghanistan. The organization is running and operating by 25 professional core and full time personal of MHAF in its head office in Kabul and each regional office of MHAF deals with a large number of paid and volunteer staff member’s entire the country.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Health Program Manager and Senior Management in collaboration with the health team, the Health Coordinator (HC) will be responsible for the vision, strategy, design, implementation, and management of technical and operational aspects of MHI’s Health portfolio in Kabul, Afghanistan. They will lead MHI and partner-implemented programs and promote technical assistance, capacity strengthening, and learning.

  • Act according to the organization's policies and procedures
  • Support the Health Project Manager in the implementation of the BPHS technical part
  • Responsible for the overall management of BPHS technical part (standard service delivery, planning, implementation, supervision, target setting, recording and reporting)
  • Promote an attitude of team spirit and a strong focus on quality among the members of the department.
  • Ensure a professional technical atmosphere among the team to develop/identify, implement and supervise the BPHS/MOPH seven components required standard services.
  • Follow up and coordinate the implementation of project work plan activities and objectives by different sections.
  • Develop plans (supervision of plans, quality improvement) with Health Project Manager and technical staff, supervise the implementation of the plan and give timely feedback.
  • Direct supervision of HFs and follow-up of Health supervisor performance in the field.
  • OPD the men/children client who came to MKC/clinic for receiving health services
  • Collect the technical sections' activities reports, and achievements and prepare the project technical reports (monthly, quarterly etc.).
  • Ensure active project supplies chain (materials, Pharmaceuticals, HMIS formats) to the health facilities through set channels and regulations.
  • Responsible to support the technical team and HFs, by providing capability and capacity-building opportunities and on-the-job training. (Training, Seminars, presentations, etc.)
  • Ensure the implementation of the quality improvement in HFs and follow up by different sections.
  • Responsible for implementation and follow of all BPHS seven components, in HFs based on MoPH and project plan
  • Implement the project action plans, made by HQ as per MOPH policy and follow up.
  • Participate in technical meetings and conduct in-charge meetings and project feedback.
  • Participate in all coordination meetings with, PPHD, UN agencies, NGOs, Stakeholders and governmental agencies.
  • Take part in technical staff appraisal and performance evaluation.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the line manager

 

Job Requirements

  1. Qualifications:
  • Medical Doctor/Master of Public health
  1. Experience:
  • Minimum 5 Years experience in the health sector of an organization.
  • At least 3-5 Years’ experience in a related field in an International NGO.
  • Experience in Internal Medicine, Public Health, and Child Health (Pediatrics).  
  1. Computer & Other Skills:
  • Advanced computer skills and MS Office package.
  • Excellent time management skills and organizational abilities.
  • Top-notch client interaction skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
  • An understanding of emergency protocols and safety guidelines.
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues. Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team
  1. LANGUAGES:  
  • Excellent Language proficiency in spoken and written Dari, Pashto, and English.
