About Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC)

The Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC) founded in 1999 is a national non-governmental organization (NGO), dedicated to the promotion and protection of the rights of women in Afghanistan and supporting Afghans to live in peace.  AWSDC key thematic focus areas are Peacebuilding, Women Rights/GBV, Livelihoods, WASH and Humanitarian Response. The organization geographical areas are Kabul, Kunduz, Faryab, Herat, Balkh and Samangan Provinces. The organization since the startup of first wave of COVID-19 has provided humanitarian assistance to nearly 65,000 COVID-19 affected men, women and children under its geographical areas. Likewise, AWSDC is one of Humanitarian Actors that provides protection, WASH and Emergency Shelter and None food items to vulnerable Afghanistan across the country.

 

AWSDC in response to the humanitarian crisis is scaling up its interventions to serve more people through provision of life savings assistance, GBV, WASH, Food/None Food Items.   Recently AWSDC has aligned its strategic priorities to the address the acute deficits of affected population through provision of protection services, WASH, Food Assistance and NFIs in Afghanistan.

 

AWSDC is in the process to recruit Protection Project Manager to support the project team in the implementation of Women Protection project in Balkh Province.

Job Description

About the project:

AWSDC is in the process to hire competent staff to implement Women Protection project in Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh Province. The focus of the project is to establish and run two community friendly centers form women and girls skills and recreational activities including referral pathways, provision of GBV core principles and PSS firs aid training to the project team and donor implementing partners, conduct dialogue sessions with community leaders and increase community awareness on women and girls protection and the type of services provided by AWSDC under the project.

Job Requirements

 Position Summary:

The position holder (GBV Trainer/Officer) will be responsible for a capacity development of AWSDC and donor partners on GBV Core Principle, on psychosocial first aid trainings for UNHCR Protection and Livelihood partners in coordination with UNHCR and MHPSS specialized organizations. Develop training materials and timely delivery of the training.  In addition to this support protection manager/project manager in timely delivery of the project activities. The staff will be placed in AWSDC Provincial office in Mazar-e-Sharif with frequent travel to the two established community centers in Mazar-e-Sharif.

 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Conduct a pre-capacity assessment of UNHCR and its partner staff to develop the training materials as per their particular needs
  2. Develop training materials as per the needs and in consultation with UNHCR, GBV sub-cluster and other stakeholders
  3. Organize trainings on the core principles and referral pathways to UNHCR Protection and Livelihood partners.
  4. Organize trainings on psychosocial first aid trainings for UNHCR Protection and Livelihood partners in coordination with UNHCR and MHPSS specialized organizations.
  5. Provide training for those who conducts Safety Audits.
  6. Deliver the training to UNHCR and its partner staff on key subjects defined under GBV activities
  7. Provide necessary support to field officer to monitor the training process, evaluate the trainees and to address a lesson learned exercise.
  8. Assist the Protection Manager with the recreational and other activities for women and girls in target locations.
  9. Support the protection manager in timely delivery of project activities.
  10. Any other tasks assigned by the project manager.

Required Qualification and Experience:

  • Minimum of Bachelor degree in social science or relevant field
  •  Minimum of 2 years of experience in training delivery on topics related Protection and training materials development.
  • Excellent knowledge on GBV principles and inter-agency guidelines and tools
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • Working experience particularly with women and girls
  • Solid Computer skills and competency in word, Excel as a minimum
