Job Description

Job Overview: 

The purpose of Finance Coordinator – Grants is to implement delegated area of responsibility. The position holder will be responsible to develop budgets, prepare financial reports to internal NRC stake holders, Donors and relevant government entities, monitor project spending, provide budget codes to requested expenditures and support finance team in day to day financial activities.


Generic Responsibilities:

  1. Implement NRC’s systems and procedures at area level
  2. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements
  3. Prepare and submit reports and analysis
  4. Ensure proper filing of all support documents
  5. Support line managers in procedures and require support team trainings
  6. Management of support team

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Liaise with HR in Kabul and Finance in the field offices to prepare staff salary allocation
  2. Generate monthly Budget Versus Actual report (BvA) per project and per area offices.
  3. Facilitate monthly Budget versus Actual (BvA) reports with budget holder and follow up on action points.
  4. Verification of financial transactions per projects.
  5. Liaise with HR in Kabul and area managers in the field offices to prepare monthly staff salary and other operation cost allocation.
  6. Provide information to Finance Manager and area manager during proposal budget preparation to ensure staff positions and other support cost are fully funded
  7. Preparing financial coverage report of Kabul office and also assisting area managers to prepare area financial coverage report.
  8. Traveling to the NRC field offices in order to assist NRC staff on the financial issues.
  9. Check and verify NRC Afghanistan payrolls before payments are made
  10. Assist Area Managers in preparation of field support costs and ensure that these costs are correctly charged
  11. Be proactive in communication with budget holder and ensure that new changes in the financial reporting tools are taken on board.
  12. Assist Finance team on preparation of financial donor’s reports.
  13. Assist finance team to maintain Master budget updated.
  14. promote exchange of information and cooperation with relevant department in main office as well as with Project managers and coordinators
  15. Support the team when needed.
  16. Ensure that the accounting, monitoring and reporting are according to procedures (Finance)
  17. Support project staff in financial matters (Finance)
  18. Maintain budget control and monitor cash flow for the area (Finance)
  19. Ensure development and implementation of administrative systems and procedures
  20. Ensure that budgeting, financial reporting and other financial processes take place in adherence to Financial Handbook, other NRC policies and donor, auditor and the authorities requirements
  21. Provide up-to-date analysis and required reports of the financial situation in the projects and the programme to the Finance Manager, Head of support unit, Head Of Programme, Area Managers, Programme Managers, Project Coordinators.

Job Requirements

Generic Professional Competencies:

  1. At least five of experience from working as a Finance Coordinator in a humanitarian/recovery context
  2. Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  3. BBA in business administration
  4. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  5. Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  6. Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  7. Empowering and building trust
