Job Description

Background

Youth Health and Development Organization (YHDO) is an Afghanistan nongovernmental organization that promotes health, and advocate for the right of young people in the country. YHDO will implement the HIV NFM grant (Scaling up HIV interventions among Key Affected Populations in Afghanistan) in Herat ,Kandahar and Ghazni provinces.

SUMMARY: Responsible for the management of day-to-day supervision from running of Male Health Clinic services such as STI syndrome case diagnosis, treatment and follow up,  and ensure about the quality of counseling & testing, diagnosis, and referral to treatment of hepatitis A, B, and C and HIV positive cases, close follow up from outreach activities and focus on client information confidentiality. And enable the ‘client’, with the help of a trained counselor to understand his or her risk of HIV infection and coordinator will provide the monthly and quarterly report to the provincial coordinator and main office.

Job Description

  • The facility coordinator should follow the YHDO policy, rules, and regulations.
  • Daily supervision from the DIC and update from DIC & outreach activities and encourage the staff to have qualitative performances.
  • Should present at the DIC during working hours.
  • Responsible for all administrative issues (Staff attendance follow-up, activities report and maintenance, update and inventory of all medical non-medical equipment and furniture.
  • He /she should provide all need registration books and formats for recording and reporting in DIC and outreach.
  • The health facility coordinator will plan joint supervision with the provincial coordinator to visit the outreach team in the field to ensure their performances.
  • Performs very specialized assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services to the MHRB and PWIDs, utilizing appropriate protocols and guidelines as established by the ANPASH and WHO for Disease Control and Prevention for the diagnosis and treatment of STI syndromic cases.
  • Clients post health histories related to presenting symptoms (i.e., previous STI’s, HIV status, potential exposure to STI) will take.
  • Uses laboratory test results and clinical assessment to determine type and stage of STI syndromic case management and to administer or oversee the administration of appropriate treatment allowed under guidelines.
  • Counsels and administers hepatitis B and C positive cases to eligible clients based on hepatitis B and C laboratory screening results.
  • Administer and referral of PLHIV to access for ART.
  • Conduct at least one coordination meeting each month with PWID and MHRB staff.
  • Ensure sufficient supply of test kits, medical consumables, office supplies, and harm reduction supplies (e.g. condoms).
  • The coordinator should provide the quarterly, monthly progressive report to the provincial coordinator and project manager.

Job Requirements

  • Medical Doctor
  • Three year’s experience in HIV prevention project implementation.
  • Strong understanding of HIV and AIDS intervention
  • Experience in outreach activities.
  • Experience and knowledge of teamwork
  • The skill of good communication
  • Able to travel to districts when required.
  • Knowledge of use of computer office program
  • Excellent oral and writing skills in Pashto, Dari and English language
