Overview of position

Treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) is one of the key components of PND activities serviced through BPHS NGOS. It is primarily implemented in the emergency affected provinces where the prevalence of SAM is high. The services will be expanded as part of emergency response once there is emergency induced SAM cases. Therapeutic nutrition supplies (e.g F-75, F-100 and RUTF) are core elements of the services. PND manage the overall supply chain including forecasting, requesting, distributing, and collecting the reports on a quarterly basis.

Purpose of the post:

The main objective of this assignment is to support PND to manage quality IMAM services delivery as inpatient care and outpatient care. Also, to manage the therapeutic supply and minimize the nutrition supply stock outs through improved nutrition supply management system. The technical assistance will also be responsible for emergency related activities in PND including coordinating with Nutrition cluster. 

Job Description

  • Monitoring of targeted public schools and UNICEF-supported Community-based Education (CBE), Accelerated Learning Program (ALP), and Early Child Development (ECD) classes at provincial and district levels, 

  • Checking whether the CBE/ALP/ECD classes are linked to nearby hub (formal) schools through regular monitoring, as determined by UNICEF Quality Assurance measures.

  •  Monitoring and documenting the transition of CBE/ALP/ECD classes to hub schools. 

  • Overseeing textbooks and Teaching Learning Materials (TLM) supply delivery to planned schools and their distribution to students by tracking supply delivery with school principals and shura and parents.

  • Conducting regular visits to textbooks warehouses at the PEDs and reporting the findings.  

  • Monitoring teachers' and students' attendance in CBE/ALP/ECD classes. 

  • Conducting area assessments to ensure that CBE and ALP classes are established in areas where children have no access to public schools while reporting issues to ZOs for necessary actions.

  • Assuring that School Management Shuras (SMS) have been established and are functioning. 

  • Performing skill needs assessment of PED academic supervision staff (when needed) and organizing required capacity development training (e.g., planning, data collection, data analysis, and monitoring/supervision and reporting).

  • Monitoring UNICEF-funded school construction projects to ensure contractors fulfill their work as per BOQ.

  • Conducting field monitoring visits on Education in Emergency (EiE) programs/projects, as needed.

  • Monitoring teachers’ salary distribution and sharing the monthly update. 

  •  Conducting UNICEF education-related campaigns such as World Girls Child Day, etc. 

  •  Maintaining and updating CBE data (as per UNICEF template) on monthly basis.

  • Monitoring girls’ schools’ facilities (e.g., sanitation, safe drinking water, boundary walls) and sharing report findings.

  • Performing any other duties assigned by UNICEF ZOs and ACO.

Job Requirements

Education:

Bachelor Degree in a specialized subject preferably in education and social science

Work Experience:

Minimum of three years of experience in a related field.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong Knowledge of Programme Monitoring, report writing, and administrative procedures.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the existing education system policies and procedures
