Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Driving an armoured vehicle and interacting with clients face to face
  • Be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of our colleagues/clients
  • Responsible for the safe operation, usage and maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
  • Ensures all duties as driver of the assigned vehicle are performed in adherence with local traffic laws and GIZ-RMO Policies, specifically Authorized armored driver Agreement (Certificates).
  • Responsible for accounting for each trip, record-keeping and attendant paperwork from each trip using GIZ-RMO-SecLog Vehicle Logbook to ensure vehicle usage activities comply with GIZ-RMO Policies and specific SecLog Rules and Regulations.
  • Reports any problems identified in the vehicle and also ensure all licenses and documents relating to the vehicle are renewed on time and as required.
  • Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents or incidents.
  • Maintain radio communications with dispatch and technical operations control center (Radio) to ensure the safekeeping of your passengers/clients.

Services

  • Transporting passengers/clients to and from clients’ premises and pick-ups/drop offs from the airports, ministries and other approved listed premises.

Maintenance

  • Checks of lights, indicator lights, brakes, bodywork for dents, etc before every use of a vehicle.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of assigned vehicles through timely checks of oils, tires, brakes, and cleanliness internal and external of the vehicle
  • Reports the need for maintenance and repairs on a daily basis

General Tasks

  • Ensure that all safety and hygiene standards are being adhered to.
  • Be responsible for cleanliness (interior/Exterior) of your operated vehicle
  • Adhere to strict safety/security and operational procedures and rules
  • Proven ability to provide high level client service and attention to detail.
  • Work in shifts 24/7/365.
  • Must be willing to be relocated to other GIZ duty stations within Afghanistan, eg Mazar-e -Sharif / Faizabad/TLQ if needed.
 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid driver’s licence grade (C) and a satisfactory driving record
  • Certified proofed driving experience and training with armoured vehicles
  • Good knowledge of VHF Communication System

Professional Experience:

  • At least three years of work experience as driver
  • At least one year of proven working experience of armored vehicles
  • Must have armored training certificates
  • Having received at least one first aid training is a value and preferable.
  • No history of major accidents
  • Excellent ethic and integration
  • High attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under stressful conditions
  • Professional demeanor

Other experiences and skills (e.g. language, IT-skills, social and personal skills, etc.):

  • A well-kept outer appearance and cultivated manners
  • Good working knowledge of modern communication systems (telephone, sat phones and VHF), including the phonetical radio communication language
  • Discipline, punctuality and patience
  • Language skills Sufficient working knowledge in English (familiarity with German language is preferable)
  • Communication skills in Pashto and Dari are essential.
  • Familiar with all locations in vicinity of Kabul and e.g., Consulates., internat. organisations and Afghanistan Authorities. etc  
  • Ability to function well in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • The position requires that you pass a medical check screening and be issued a medical certificate.
