Job Description

Afghan Youth Education and Health Organization known as (AYEHO) is an independent, non- profitable, nonpartisan and non-governmental organization registered with the Ministry of Economy, Government of Afghanistan. AYEHO provides support to youth and children who work on the streets, orphans, and children in conflict with law, children with disabilities and their families in Afghanistan.

AYEHO established in 2018, headquartered in Kabul with two provincial offices and properly structured and active business and operational set ups in all 34 provinces of the country, has arguably served the most marginalized and vulnerable children, youth and families in the most disadvantaged and remote areas of the country. Besides this AYEHO is well-known and established Afghan NGO in delivering professional and technical assistance and training and development services to targeted audience in Afghanistan, at central, provincial and district levels, in all the leading development and governance sectors of the country.

AYEHO has been working for community empowerment at the grassroots level for many years. The emergence of AYEHO was based on the goals of securing the rights of most deprived and vulnerable communities through promotion of child rights and women rights. Enhancing access to basic health services, quality primary education and socioeconomic development facilities are among the integral parts of AYEHO. Based on these goals, the AYEHO mission is to empower and improve the quality of life of marginalized and vulnerable communities in less developed parts of the country. This mission is to be accomplished by launching sustainable and replicable projects as well as building partnerships. By utilizing valuable skills and resources such as participatory research, development, knowledge management, and advocacy, that will tangibly bring about change into the lives of women and children.

 

Job Description:

Job Summary:

The District Education Officer will be primarily responsible for implementing CBE/ALP activities under a specific EiE Program, by ensuring the program is of high technical quality, and monitoring processes are in place. He or she will make sure timely reporting occurs according to donors’ requirements to the Provincial Coordinator. In addition, he or she will make sure the program is continually assessed and solutions are quickly put in place for a change of context.

In addition, he/she will play a central role in the implementation of the Education Activities within the scope of the project. The District Education Officer will work specifically with project Staff such as Trainers, Teachers, and Community Mobilizers, to improve education program quality and facilitate smooth implementation at the district level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Facilitate and coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the CBE project at the district level
  • Coordinate project activities with relevant local stakeholders including the District Education Department, Hub-School authorities, Academic Supervisor, School Management Shuras, Education Technical Extenders, and communities.
  • Establish mechanisms to facilitate the implementation of the Education activities in partnership with communities and district education authorities.
  • Organize coordination meetings and facilitate the CBE mapping exercise at the district level
  • Lead the identification of classes, school-age children, and potential teachers at the district level
  • Facilitate the enrollment and registration of CBE students in the Hub School and ensure appropriate documentation at the DED level.
  • Organize Teacher Training Sessions in close collaboration with Teacher Trainers and Training Officer
  • Liaise with Local Authorities and facilitate back-to-school campaigns at the district level
  • Provide regular constructive support to community mobilizers and CBE teachers to improve the overall quality of service delivery
  • Ensure timely monitoring of all sites and generate evidence of quality service delivery across all CBEs
  • Represent AYEHO in all district-level coordination forums and share relevant feedback with the provincial coordinator and provincial team
  • Manage technical issues of the project in the field and report expenditures if any based on project proposal and budget work plan to the education coordination.
  • Ensure regular supervision of field staff including community mobilizer and CBE teachers and program activities/ facilities through the development of supervision plans and timely report to the Provincial Coordinator.
  • Under the overall technical and administrative supervision of the Provincial Coordinator, assist CBE project planning and implementation including school assessment teacher recruitment teacher training, and awareness of children's caregivers.
  • Undertake training needs assessments for project staff teachers mainly CBE teachers with the support of Project Teacher Trainers in the province.
  • Develop & organize on-the-job refresher training to address any gaps and build the capacity of individuals and departments targeted by the project.
  • Design training for the beneficiaries in accordance with the approved proposal of the projects.
  • Coordinate the monitoring of the activities according to the approved activities schedule.
  • According to the role and responsibilities education officer is responsible for managing motivation and providing timely feedback to the project field staff in response to their performance toward the project objectives.
  • Any other task as falls necessary and/or assigned by the supervisor, commenting, revising, and translating questionnaires and data collected from the field

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Master Preferred) in Education Social Science project management or any related field with 5 years relevant experience
  • Certification in English language.
  • Certification in Computer skills.
  • Good communication skills particularly in the local language (Dari/Pashto)
  • Speaking and writing ability in English
  • Good knowledge of the Child education system in Afghanistan
  • Computer knowledge Skills and result-based work plan (using the logical framework) on strategy including project-related issues
  • knowledge of community mobilization activities
  • Have strong presentation and teaching skills
  • Pashto fluency is must
