Medair Afghanistan has been operating since 1996 and currently works in three provinces: Daykundi, Uruzgan, and Kandahar. The country's main office is in Kabul, with multiple field offices. Medair implements WASH, Food Security, Health and Nutrition programming.

Job Description

Overall Purpose

To be part of a team that is providing nutrition services through mobile nutrition teams to targeted communities in Kandahar Province. The Data Entry Assistant will help in collecting, processing, compiling and entering of data into various formats and data bases.

Project Overview

Medair is implementing an integrated Health, Nutrition, WASH and Food Security project in Kandahar province. Medair’s multisector project seeks to respond humanitarian needs and foster resilience among conflict affected and underserved communities in hard-to-reach areas in Afghanistan. Underlying vulnerabilities have been exacerbated by COVID-19, drought, and conflict, leading to reduced access to WASH services and basic health care, a huge increase in acute malnutrition and emergency levels of acute food insecurity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data entry of Health & Nutrition, WASH and Food Security team information into requested formats and databases based on needs
  • Data quality checking on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. 
  • Compilation of reports on weekly, monthly and yearly basis as requested
  • Data entry of beneficiary feedback in requested formats and data bases
  • Provide any analysis tools as per the request of the Project Managers or MEAL colleagues

 

MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Accurately enter project data from source (paper, email, electronic form) into appropriate databases.
  • Flag and follow up as needed any errors, inconsistencies and omissions observed in reports.
  • Create various reports from master database within deadlines given and submit as requested.
  • Maintain organized file structure as per Medair guidelines.
  • Generate reports, graphs or analysis from data as requested.
  • Regular monitoring of the project activities in the targeted districts and report it to the project coordinator and MEAL officer/manager.
  • Contribute and support data collection for baseline/end line surveys and field assessments as required by the PMs/PC/MEAL manager
  • And support all other data tasks as they arise.
 

Job Requirements

PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Educational Background

  • University degree or diploma in relevant field

 

Relevant Work Experience

  • 1 year relevant post graduate experience
  • Experience working with excel data bases

 

Language Skills

  • Fluent Pashto oral and written skills
  • Intermediate English oral and written skills

 

Computer & IT Skills

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft products particularly Excel
  • Experience with electronic data collection systems like ODK/ONA.

 

Other skills

  • Organized and logical, good with numbers and calculations
  • Able to record and share information accurately and clearly
  • Able to look critically at data and flag inconsistencies and inaccuracies
  • Dedicated with strong attention to detail
  • Open to changes in systems and approaches, willing to learn and develop further 
  • Willing to be flexible and take on new tasks as responsibilities change
  • Honest and dependable, with strong anti-fraud principles and high level of integrity.
  • Accountable with a strong work-ethic
  • Prompt to take initiative and find solutions to problems
