Job Description

Position Overview

The COVID medical specialist will work with other technical specialists and the field operations team to
ensure an integrated project, ensuring the focus on COVID 19 support within ‐ the project activities.
She/he will provide technical support based upon expertise and knowledge of evidence‐based practices
and emerging evidence related to improving and strengthening the delivery of COVID‐19 services in the
hospitals.

Responsibilities
1. Provide strategic clinical COVID support to private and public health facilities regarding COVID-19
management.
2. Do training need assessment over targeted HFs staff for COVID support purpose.
3. Conduct class-based training based on project work plan for COVID hospitals staff.
4. Provide planned learning sessions regarding COVID-19 screening, case management, complication
management, respiratory support, oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilator and other relevant topics
for full package hospitals staff to empower staff for provision quality service for COVID-19 patients.
5. Provide clinical support (coaching) to COVID hospitals staff in OPD and bedside support in EW, GW,
HDU and ICU.
6. Do checkout of mentees in hospitals whom completed the competency-based learning sessions.
7. Provide clinical support (orientation) to essential HFs regarding screening, case management, IPC,
Triage.
8. Accomplishing regular direct observation based on weekly plan to full package and essential HFs
COVID service delivery progress and provide coaching to staff.
9. Do need assessment and estimating the COVID consumable commodities and IPC materials for full
package and essential HFs.

10. Supply COVID consumable commodities, IPC, IEC, printing (register books and formats) materials
based on HFs need.
11. Ensure the rational consumption of COVID consumable commodities and IPC materials in HFs.
12. Collect weekly and monthly COVID data based on available documents and records in HFs
13. Send the weekly and monthly report to supervisor.
14. Do frequent cross check over weekly, monthly report data and HFs registers and patients’ files for
assuring the data accuracy & consistency.
15. Do regular need assessment of oxygen need in full package hospitals and send the requests to
supervisor.
16. Assess and ensure the oxygen supplies and relevant commodities in hospitals be utilized for COVID-
19 suspect/confirmed patients only.
17. Contribute team COVID support unit for developing any update learning material.
18. Assist community engagement field team for provision update learning materials of community
based COVID-19.
19. Conduct any ad hoc activity which be assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

Qualification Required:
1. Graduated from certified medical university and must be medical specialist
2. More than one-year experience in COVID-19 clinical management.
3. Ability to work in a team and improve team building.
4. Punctuality is a mandatory.
5. More than 90% official time must be in the field (targeted hospitals).
6. Having knowledge of computer (Microsoft office) utilization.
Abilities/Skills:
 Ability to work successfully in teams, across a diverse team in a complex environment with multiple
tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
 Strong skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong writing, analytical and
communication skills in Dari, Pashtu and English (preferable)
