Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organization (INSO) is an international charity that supports the safety of aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in complex contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services including real-time tracking of developments in the operating environment, reporting, safety related information and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations, and training.

INSO services help NGOs with their day-to-day risk management responsibilities and improve their overall situational awareness to support evidence-based humanitarian access decisions.

The Organization has grown from innovative start-up to become a globally recognized charity and a valuable component of the humanitarian safety coordination system.
Today the Organization provides daily support to more than 1,000 beneficiary organizations (NGO) in some of the world’s most insecure environments and has earned a strong reputation for performance, principles & professionalism.
INSO has been registered as a charity in the Netherlands since April 2019 and its global headquarters is now based in The Hague, the international city of peace and justice.

INSO has more than 1,000 employees globally and is active in 18 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia.

INSO Central region is currently looking for a Cook Assistant  in Kabul Province. The candidates are required to be resident in the province and possess an understanding of the current situation relevant to NGO and humanitarian safety.

 

Job Description

  • Ensure meals are provided to INSO staff in a timely manner. (Plan for meals and   snacks within a   given budget, procure food items are best quality and price, procure and serve meals and snacks as scheduled).
  • Maintain good hygiene and cleanliness in food preparation.
  • Ensure that hot water for tea and coffee breaks is always   available during office hours and meetings.
  • Organize, maintain, and keep the kitchen, kitchen equipment, and utensils in good order.
  • Check and ensure that kitchen supplies are available.
  • Maintain a clean/sanitary kitchen.
  • Order kitchen supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Purchase food items.
  • Maintain inventory records of food/tea items and submit regular expenditure reports to relevant administration officer.
  • Prepare and serve daily lunch, and tea for staff.
  • Collect lunch money from staffs on a regular basis.
  • Clean the lunchroom (s) daily.
  • Approachable, good listener, easy to talk to.
 

Job Requirements

  • Experience in NGOs or Hotels and restaurants in similar position.
  •  Communications skills in Dari/Pashto and English will be preferred .
  •  Experience working in multi-cultural setting.
  • The ideal candidate will have the following education, work experience, skills and qualities:
  • A person with ability to read and write will be preferred
  • A minimum of 3-year experience in related field.
  • Ability to cook well
  • Basic understanding of good nutrition.
  • Organisational / multi-tasking skills
  • Good understanding of hygiene
  • Good Physical ability to do cleaning the kitchen etc.
