Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the community mobilization activities in provincial level and provide necessary support to the community mobilizers in effectively implementation of the community mobilization efforts.
  • Conduct surveys and assessments in the communities and provide feedback and suggestions for the development and smoothly implementation of education program.
  • Create positive relations with community through regular meetings and discussions to identify and address the education needs and challenges. He/she will spend 80% of his working time in the field. Each community should be visited once a month or more, as needed.
  • Develop plans for establishing School Shuras in coordination with community mobilizers, community members and community elders to monitor and support the education activities in the community.
  • Closely work with community to identify education needs, develop work plan for and ensure that community members extend their support to the education program and School Shura members.
  • Ensure the registration and integration of CBE students and teachers in the MoE formal system.
  • Establish and maintain productive work relationship and coordinate activities with MoE’s officials at provincial, district and school level.
  • Ensure the transparency in classroom repair/maintenance, material distribution activities and other planned activities in the community and keep records of the program activities.
  • Conduct campaigns and trainings to the community to raise their awareness on gender and education, especially for improvement of girl education and their further participation in education and learning efforts
  • Conduct meetings and trainings to the community mobilizers, provincial education team members, MoE Provincial CBE Officers (PCO), teachers and School Shura members to develop their capacity for proper planning and implementing of CBE activities.
  • Prepare training materials and deliver trainings with the assistance of Education Provincial Manager and other staff and Provincial CBE Officer according to the program needs.
 

Job Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education, higher education is preferred  
  • Strong oral and written communication skill in Pashto; skills in Dari will also be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the community structure, dynamics and development.
  • Overall, seven years of work experience. At least two years of experience in the field of community mobilization, particularly for community participation, conflict resolution and resource mobilization.
  • Knowledge of the value of education in Holy Islam, the child development and protection and the current trends of education in Afghanistan.
  • Sound training and awareness raising skills, including for illiterate people.
  • Ability to frequently travel to the target communities
