About Organization for Research & Community Development (ORCD )

Organization for Research & Community Development (ORCD) is a Non-governmental, Non-political, Non-profitable and independent organization founded in 2010 by a group of community development and research specialist. The aim of the organization is to contribute to the development of Afghanistan as an integral part of the international community. It envisages accomplishing its aims by building local capacities, generating evidence in various disciplines, promoting evidence-based on best practices and implementing development projects aimed at community development at the grass root level. ORCD is a multi-donor funded NGO, implementing health, agriculture and community development projects in several provinces of the country.
ORCD would like to implement Mobile Health and Nutrition Services (MHNT) Logar province funded by (UNICEF) for which it would like to seek qualified people.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identification of the most vulnerable children in the community in need of protection and psychosocial support (including counselling, protection concerns, etc.)
  • Participation in community awareness and information dissemination to members of the community.
  • Assisting in referral vulnerable children in the community to partner agencies for appropriate intervention
  • Provide support to caseworkers in the follow up and tracking of individual cases and updating the status accordingly
  • Assist in the provision of direct assistance to refugees in the community.
  • Assist in the mobilization of community members for support groups, community forums and sensitization campaigns within the communities.
  • Accompany case workers for home visits, conduct individual visits and follow-ups and provide feedback reports to the social workers.
  • Raise awareness of communities regarding the program.
  • Distribution and keeping record of IEC materials 
  • Reports to District Supervisor.
  • Conducting a detailed assessment of the communities.
  • Provide weekly and monthly quantitative and qualitative reports to counseling psychologist highlighting individual performance, progress against targets and client needs and outcomes of assistance provided
  • Attend regular staff meetings, monthly debriefings, trainings and other meetings as required and ensure regular personal development and supervision.

  • Working as part of a team to support and sustain community-led action around issues related to child protection.
  • Working as part of a team to organize and hold events that draw in and involve local residents and partners;
  • Developing and sustaining positive relationships with a range of people, including residents, community leaders, local groups and organizations, and local authorities;
  • Supporting face-to-face, and online activities;
  • Supporting the delivery and analysis of community-based qualitative action research;
  • Attending meetings and working as liaison person connecting project team with variety of stakeholders including community members.
  • Working in different environments (both office-based and on the ground), at times best suited to the community (including some evenings and weekends).
  • Maintain case notes and participant files and ensure that all reporting requirements are adhered to as outlined by the funder and program for every client interaction

Job Requirements

  • High school graduation (Bachelor Degree is preferred)
  • One year of similar working experience in Child Protection with I/NGOs is preferred
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening skills
  • Ability to allocate and review priorities to meet the deadlines Ability to identify problems ad resolutions
  •  Able to work independently with little supervision, reliable, trustworthy, and committed to team’s success
