About Norwegian Church Aid (NCA)

NCA is one of the largest aid organisations in the Nordic region. NCA have 21 country offices across Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East, including four joint country offices and other partner organisations. Our mandate is to save lives and seek justice. We do this by working with long-term development programmes, humanitarian interventions and advocacy toward decision-makers to address the root causes of injustice, poverty and power imbalance. Our work is undertaken closely with local civil society partners and other NGOs. NCA Afghanistan is currently working on Climate Resilient WASH, Climate Smart Economic Empowerment, Humanitarian Response, Learning and Social Development, Integrated Community Resilience Action (ICRA) project and Civil Society capacity building.

Job Description

NCA is seeking a competent and highly motivated Communications Officer with extensive experience experience in graphics design and media production to join our team. This post will provide NCA communications activities and help promote its programmes and projects.

The post holder is based in Kabul City and will travel extensively and reports to the Grants and Communications Coordinator.

 

Job Requirements

The main tasks and responsibilities for this position:

  • Develop multimedia products such promotional videos, project documentaries and infographics for targeted audience. This task may include script writing, conducting interviews, filming, video editing, narration, and animation/motion graphic.
  • Provide photography coverage of NCA programmes and projects
  • Write high-quality impact stories in English and local languages
  • Produce high-quality graphic design which may include design work for activity banners, event flyers, activity highlights, progress reports, booklets, PowerPoint presentations and visually appealing brochures
  • Ensure that all communications material comply with NCA and donors’ quality standards and guidelines, including consistent application of donor visibility
  • Develop content to enhance visibility and maintain NCA Afghanistan’s web page.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of NCA and coordinate publicity events as required
  • Respond to inquiries from the public and media, and coordinate promotional events
  • Support in developing in-country communication plan and implementation

 

The main expectations for this position over the next period in regard to strategic targets and plans:

NCA is looking for an experienced, skilled, and creative media production expert to join our team. The post holder, to be successful, should be skilled and have excellent skills in media production such as videography, photography, and video editing. They should be able to work under pressure to meet demanding deadlines and travel to the regions including hard-to-reach areas where NCA implements projects. The post holder should also think creatively, and have excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
