Overview of position

Treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) is one of the key components of PND activities serviced through BPHS NGOS. It is primarily implemented in the emergency affected provinces where the prevalence of SAM is high. The services will be expanded as part of emergency response once there is emergency induced SAM cases. Therapeutic nutrition supplies (e.g F-75, F-100 and RUTF) are core elements of the services. PND manage the overall supply chain including forecasting, requesting, distributing, and collecting the reports on a quarterly basis.

Purpose of the post:

The main objective of this assignment is to support PND to manage quality IMAM services delivery as inpatient care and outpatient care. Also, to manage the therapeutic supply and minimize the nutrition supply stock outs through improved nutrition supply management system. The technical assistance will also be responsible for emergency related activities in PND including coordinating with Nutrition cluster.

Job Description

Generic responsibilities:

Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
Ensure quality implementation of CM-UDOC project cash grants according to tools, SOPs, and annual work plan.
Contribute to regular activity progress reports.
Ensure proper completion and filing of all documentation (soft and hard copy, as required).
Ensure close co-operation with all NRC core competencies including through joint needs assessments and activities, and identifying beneficiaries where appropriate
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection and/or assistance.
Support CM Officer to coordinate with community leaders as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations and UN agencies to establish and maintain networks for access, referrals, and problem solving.
Implement the portfolio of cash grants tasks and activities as delegated by the CM officer/ team leader in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements according to plan of action.

Specific responsibilities:

Visit the community on daily basis to meet the community committee and other families in the community and collect information.
Identify the most venerable who have faced sudden shocks and are eligible cases for the CM cash grants provision.
Collection of accurate and proper information for each potential case for cash grants assistance.
Filling out the forms for the potential eligible beneficiaries for cash grants provision.
Conduct referrals for the cases who being rejected for the provision of cash grants.
Proper follow up of the beneficiaries who will be assisted with the cash grants.
Make sure the potential beneficiaries for the cash grants provision are selected based on the pre-set criteria’s and SOPs in place.
Make sure distribution of the cash grants are being processed as per beneficiary’s preference.
Promote good relationship with the site service providers
Any other related responsibilities tasked by supervisor.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

University degree (preferably in social sciences, e.g. education, political science, international relations, law, journalism, gender studies, and human rights)
Minimum 2 years of work experience in the field of community outreach and/or protection preferably with INGOs.
Fluency in English and local languages either in Pashto and Dari, or both written and verbal
Political and cultural awareness, as well as good understanding of the displacement context in Afghanistan.
Experience in community capacity building and training
Previous similar experience preferred.
Experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context, preferably in community services or community engagement and mobilization, protection, community capacity building, or related field
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
