About Organization for Research & Community Development (ORCD )

Organization for Research & Community Development (ORCD) is a Non-governmental, Non-political, Non-profitable and independent organization founded in 2010 by a group of community development and research specialist. The aim of the organization is to contribute to the development of Afghanistan as an integral part of the international community. It envisages accomplishing its aims by building local capacities, generating evidence in various disciplines, promoting evidence-based on best practices and implementing development projects aimed at community development at the grass root level. ORCD is a multi-donor funded NGO, implementing health, agriculture and community development projects in several provinces of the country.
ORCD would like to implement Mobile Health and Nutrition Services (MHNT) Logar province funded by (UNICEF) for which it would like to seek qualified people.

Job Description

  • Training the farmers in new agriculture technology and agronomy techniques and methods to improve productivity in the area. The training includes the following subjects:
  • Land preparation trainings
  • Irrigation related trainings
  • Trainings on seed cultivation methods
  • Chemical and organic (manure) fertilizer application trainings
  • Integrated pest management trainings.
  • Design training manuals presentations and Materials required for the trainings;
  • Provide technical support inputs and agricultural extension services to farmers and farmers groups and cooperatives for the production handling of high value agricultural and agronomy commodities.
  • Collecting data on the trainings and impacts of the training in the targeted area.
  • Ensure close communication and coordination with project team district authorities and community elders through regular visits participation in meeting organize joint field visits and submission of reports.
  • Responsible for administrative tasks related to training
  • Support farmers through field visits and trainings.
  • Provide recommendations to farmers on improving soil fertility irrigated agronomic measures such as raised-bed furrow irrigation fertilizers application rates and methods and water saving for increasing crop production.
  • Any other duties assigned by project manager
 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture and Horticulture
  • At least 5 years of progressive work experience in the similar roles in the field of Horticulture and Agronomy with INGO or Afghan NGOs.
  • Excellent command on local languages plus English.
  • Good in teaching delivery methods and familiarity
  • Experience in organizing and delivery of agricultural/Horticulture trainings.
