About Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC)

The Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC) founded in 1999 is a national non-governmental organization (NGO), dedicated to the promotion and protection of the rights of women in Afghanistan and supporting Afghans to live in peace.  AWSDC key thematic focus areas are Peacebuilding, Women Rights/GBV, Livelihoods, WASH and Humanitarian Response. The organization geographical areas are Kabul, Kunduz, Faryab, Herat, Balkh and Samangan Provinces. The organization since the startup of first wave of COVID-19 has provided humanitarian assistance to nearly 65,000 COVID-19 affected men, women and children under its geographical areas. Likewise, AWSDC is one of Humanitarian Actors that provides protection, WASH and Emergency Shelter and None food items to vulnerable Afghanistan across the country.

 

AWSDC in response to the humanitarian crisis is scaling up its interventions to serve more people through provision of life savings assistance, GBV, WASH, Food/None Food Items.   Recently AWSDC has aligned its strategic priorities to the address the acute deficits of affected population through provision of protection services, WASH, Food Assistance and NFIs in Afghanistan.

 

AWSDC is in the process to recruit Protection Project Manager to support the project team in the implementation of Women Protection project in Balkh Province.

Job Description

About the project:

AWSDC is in the process to hire competent staff to implement Women Protection project in Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh Province. The focus of the project is to establish and run two community friendly centers form women and girls skills and recreational activities including referral pathways, provision of GBV core principles and PSS first aid training to the project team and donor implementing partners, conduct dialogue sessions with community leaders and increase community awareness on women and girls protection and the type of services provided by AWSDC under the project.

 Position Summary:

The purpose of the position to provide admin, financial and logistical support at provincial level to the implementation of AWSDC project in Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh Province. Likewise the position as bridge between AWSDC main and provincial office ensuring that all the administrative, financial and logistical affairs of the project is in fully compliance with AWSDC policies and donor requirement.

The key role of the position is to plan, administer and report administrative, finance and logistical affairs of the project. The position holders needs to ensure that project financial resources are properly safeguarded, spent based on approved budget and that sound financial records are maintained in line with AWSDC admin, finance and logistics policies including donor requirements.

The staff will be placed in AWSDC Provincial Office in Mazar-e-Sharif who in turn will provide project administrative, logistics and financial support to the project in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Job Requirements

Job Responsibilities

  1. Prepare monthly financial forecast for the project, submit it to main office by end of each calendar month
  2. Support staff in opening bank accounts for payrolls
  3. Prepare staff monthly salaries and transfer it to staff bank account
  4. In joint collaboration of project manager, trainer and social mobilizers visit project site to reimburse transportation and other allowances for project beneficiaries and participants of the training, workshops and seminars
  5. Procurement of project and office supplies based on the project plan
  6. Maintain books of accounts for the project
  7. Delivering monthly financial records to main office
  8. Conduct monthly reconciliation with main office and place request for new financial forecast
  9. Ensuring that all staff fully understand and adhere to financial, administrative and procurement policy
  10. Provide orientation and training to project staff on AWSDC policies such as information sharing, code of conduct, complaint response mechanism, gender and PSEA Policy.
  11. Participate in relevant meetings and forums
  12. Maintain provincial staff personnel record based on AWSDC HR policy
  13. Maintain leave records and timesheet of staff
  14. In joint collaboration of AWSDC main office finance department prepare donor financial report including required supporting documents
  15. Prepare required reports to provincial authorities
  16. Prepare monthly and quarterly report to main office
  17. Any other task as assigned by the Project Manager/Admin/Finance Manager

Required Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor or Equivalent in Business Administration, Accounting or Financial Management
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, administration with INGOs or national NGOs. 
  • Sound understanding and maintaining proper books of account
  • Proven experience using QuickBooks
  • Familiarity with UN reporting
  • Solid Computer skills and competency in word, Excel as a minimum
